Norris' editorial calls on the Congress to change the law to limit the power of the federal government. Norris wants the federal government to stand aside and allow private industry to drill for oil in areas that Congress has placed off-limits at the behest of the environmentalists.
That is true, but he also seems to be advocating corporate subsidies for "alternative energy" and promoting the notion that war for oil is justified.
I'm seeing this idea develop among neocons that it is the government's responsibility to "do something" about high fuel prices.
A few years ago Kunstler spoke of an "American corn-pone dictator". In Italy and Germany government monetary policies made possible WWI which bankrupted those nations. In response, the people
demanded National Socialism. They got it alright (along with WWII).
The currency devaluation we are using to occupy Iraq is beginning to hurt people. Americans are already indoctrinated to love the State. I fear that.
