With 4th Edition coming out soon, I thought I'd blow the dust off the real deal. It doesnt get any better then first edition with a few house rules on top.

Brings back memories. I recognize almost all of the hardbacks and modules as I used to own them. I started buying D&D products from 1981 until some time after Second Edition came out.

Unfortunately, I had to get rid of my collection when I moved about 8 years ago.

You have Dieties and Demigods? MM2?
You got the new stuff!!

Whats that Arcane thing?

In high school I carried a briefcase, wore a corduroy suit-3 piece, but only on the days we had chess matches with other schools. (State Champs 3 years in a row!) I think the only girl in school who did not slap me finally did just after graduation. I weighed 135 pounds soaking wet, on a 6' frame. I was such a geek, the other geeks beat me up. Alcohol? Hmmffp, it no good for you. There was no such thing as lunch money.

College changed things in a lot of ways.

deep down, I know that one day they will knock on my door begging for food, and I will be the Dungeon Master

I still have most of those books, although some of them technically belong to my childhood friend. Good times. RIP Gary Gygax.

Brave of you to let us peek into your bag of holding!

3 copies of the DMG? You really mean business. That's more intimidating than the AR-10!

My favorite book was the Dungeoneer's Survival Guide, which had this full page sketch of these scantily clad cuties unsuspectingly about to get chomped by this way big ass monster. Dork porn! :-D

I've given some thought to investing some money in a first edition set. They're available on eBay pretty much all the time... might be fun for my kids.

I have a couple of the new books but they just don't have the same feel as the old stuff.

GG failed his saving throw, but we'll roll him up a new character soon.

I had most of those D+D books at on time. Sold them on ebay years ago when I lost my job.

Never liked third edition rules. Always played second edition games.

I am surprised more of those books aren't covered in duck tape. You kept them in good condition.

if real people were D&D characters...

Bush...magic user
Cheney...Illusionist
IRS, level 16 thief
George Washington, paladin

I remember my first character in the game, level 1 fighter with a dagger. I walked into a room with a purple worm...not knowing any better...CHAAAARGE!!!

Somehow, I feel the same way with Peak Oil.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'O')MG! Mine are still boxed up from our recent move. Otherwise I'd post a similar picture. I'll try to remember to do so when I get them unpacked. Sweet!

How come you have two Monster Manuals? One of them looks pretty trashed. I left my Fiend Folio out in the rain at my grandmother's house and had to replace it, but I didn't keep the trashed one.

Rogue's Gallery?

You only noticed the MM's?

3 DMG, 3 PHB, 2 Fiend Folios, 2 Manual of the Planes... I bought spares cause I have kids. :-D

No Rogues Gallery.

I game once a week at a local hobby shop. It's always been the poor mans game for me. One $20 book and your set. Although, if I had lot's of disposable income, I would like to have miniatures for the war gaming aspect. I like the idea of the arm chair general, pushing figures around a map for that tactical feel.

I guess I'm just an old school geek:

Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, Sinclair Lewis, Howard Bell Wright, Steinbeck and such.

About the same I'm thinking.
