(Chuckle) True, true. And with the price trends, my anticipation is piquing due to peaking oil. Indeed, it is like peeking into the abyss.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I') like JD, even though we usually disagree.
I like JD too.
I can think of other people on this board that I find truly annoying but JD is not one of them.

JD where are you? Are you still around?

This is going to become one of those "Do you remember the time when..." moments. :-D

Neither Mr. Gartman nor myself stated that the commodity correction would occur on Thursday.

It's still on the way. I'll be sure to keep you posted. :)

The timing was pretty amusing though, have to admit. Wow! Up $16 in two days, on no fundamentals whatsoever. Just goes to show how out of control the greed wallow has gotten in the NYMEX pigsty. Keep up the good work. The more blatant the greed, the quicker we can pass the necessary legislation to string up the profiteers.

Such legislation was attemped in Eastern block (SU & company) and sadly it didn't work.
Further, it was tightened up just before collapse and the only outcome was to accelerate prices spiralling out of control.

I think JD is enjoying a little of that rocky mountain high. Prices for oil are about to skyrocket out of control and into the level of global summits, sanctions, and threats, cap and tax, leading to worse shortages than are already to be expected from the decline. The way we will deal with peak oil in our ignorance will make the consequences for the United States worse.

Well actually JD - you are wrong about Gartman.

He went on to say on CNBC Thursday morning, with oil at $122, that the price was headed lower. In fact, he specifically stated that it could drop 20% to 30% from there.

Hey I can say that oil will have a big correction someday too - and I will mostly be right.

But if it goes to $200 first, I will look pretty damn stupid.
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'O')il price dives after 'ceasefire' in Georgia

12 August 2008, 1:56pm

The price of oil fell and the Russian currency soared today after Moscow claimed to have ordered a halt to the military action in Georgia.

Crude had jumped amid concerns about disruption to Western oil supplies from the conflict near the crucial Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline but this afternoon it fell back to three-month lows.

London Brent crude was down 87 cents a barrel at $111.80 while New York was $1.03 lower at $113.42.Link

And durn... look at them commodities drop ma!

Looks like Gartman called it spot on -- about one month before the implosion.
