Fill up today, you might beat the increase. Look for everything in the stores to go up too!

You think this is a bump in the road, or is this the SHingTF

No, not yet. When BushCo. pulls the trigger on Iran, then things get real ugly.
You will get a warning, if you are paying attention. Military's on alert, troop movements, the markets will react ahead of time(not like we are seeing at the moment). Political spouses and children will start to disappear (moved to safety). Emergency measures will start to be put in place.
It's a slow motion bullet to the brain, you will see it coming.

The shit has hit the fan.

The question now is, when will J6P notice that he has been splattered with shit?

The ability of the DSEs to ignore obvious truth is remarkable.

Ok, this is more than a little frightening. Am I the only one, or has anyone else here needed a fresh change of undies after reading these posts?

Yikes. I thought we had a few more months before things got "ugly."

I think I need a hug...

The shit has hit the fan when you've set up a two point concealed firing position in your home and are locked and loaded. Don't worry about paper cuts (stock market), worry about led poisoning, but never panic of your won't make it into Valhalla.

Don't be silly people. This isn't even close. It's just turbulence; turbulence and volitility we've been talking about for months now.

It's part of the initial economic contraction process. The serious trouble doesn't start for a few years yet.

Relax. :)

No, it hasn't. There hasn't been a run on the stores. There isn't panic in the streets. My rifle is still unloaded sitting cold in the safe and I'm still in my house.

Like others have said, if/when it does hit the fan, you will know.

Naw.

You still have the weekend to prepare.

Steady, folks.

Just a bunch of people in the market trading on fear and betting against each other.

I agree with the rest here, that the shit has not hit the fan yet, however it appears that it is definitely inbound. Impact is imminent.

However I don't think the catalyst will be Iran. I think it will be a bank that launches the first turd. The market seems to have that same feel it had before Bear Stern's blew up. The fact the Lehman Bros has the exact same setup as Bear Sterns is pretty ominous

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('seahorse2', 'D')on't worry about paper cuts (stock market), worry about led poisoning, but never panic of your won't make it into Valhalla.

funny you should mention that. I have recently finished reading Greek and Norse myth compendiums to my kids. Under the surface of all that paganism is a lot of very practical lessons about life and society. Something that has been lost in our Post Christian culture.

And one of the big take aways from both the Greek and Norse myths is that there is only one true form of wealth and it is
GOLD GOLD GOLD

Our debating about the merits of gold must seem very strange to our ancestors. Again, I suspect its something that has been lost from our Christian heritage and explains why the Asian's don't have such debates

Do you buy the entire kit? Paganism and all? Or just the gold myth?

To me, it's the convictions of our ancestors which seems a bit strange. What on earth can you use gold for? Dental fillings? You cant eat it, that's for sure - well, technically speaking you CAN eat it, but it won't give you any energy.

But, I already have plans this weekend :)

The answer relative to planning for the future is that it is irrelevant. Are there any whitewater canoe-ers out there ? There are several rules I have -

1) Stay alert and aware of what's happening in front of you
2) When in the rapids, keep your nose headed down stream
3) Never ever panic and grab the gunnels
4) Keep your hands on your paddle and use it
5) If 2-person canoe - know your role and cooperate
6) Never, ever give up no matter how certain it seems you are going to hit the rock.
7) Even after you hit the rock, capsize or whatever keep using your paddle and don't give up
8) If you have to give up the ship, save the cooler and the guitar.

I don't agree - I think you're much too relaxed about the time scale.

No, this is not "TSHTF".

That does not, however, preclude the possibility that the fat dude has positioned his ass di-rect-dict-ly over the fan.

The thing to worry about is when the Skinny Lady screams.
