$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mercurygirl', 'O')K, I didn't get the joke.
I have to disagree with EB. Ain't no way we pull entirely out of Iraq, no matter who is elected. Don't you know what's beneath the sand there?

I do know what's in their sand. Do you? Maybe not. I'll tell you. It's blood. More and more blood each day we remain there. An immediate and full removal of US military forces is the only ethical option.

And there's no way the USA can pull out in any way other than 'entirely', because a reduced force will sit trapped in the Green Zone waiting for the next mortar shell to rain upon their heads. A partial reduction will leave the remaining soldiers sitting ducks for attacks from the Iraqi patriotic resistance forces.

It's either keep the troop levels at or near where they are now, or complete a 100% pull out, which is exactly what Obama has promised to do shortly after getting sworn in. Not a suicidal 'partial' reduction, but a 100% removal of US forces. If he's elected, I hope he carries out this promise.

The Iraqi oil will be needed way more 10 or 20 years from now than it is today, and hopefully by then we can take the moral and economical route and simply buy it from them rather than lie, kill, and steal it from them as we're doing now and planning to continue doing for the foreseeable future.

Oh, you mean bombing the #*&t out of people is not the best way to fight terrorism?

I share your outrage and I hope you're right. I'm not convinced, however, that he DID unequivocally promise 100% pullout. Can you provide some reference for this? Even if he did, plans can change. I guess I'm just a cynic.

Here it is. On his official website. I hope this is not just some usual campaign promise.

I'm not too concerned about leaving soldiers behind to guard the embassy. US Marines, DOS agents, and other feds protect diplomats overseas in and protect diplomats and others at and near embassies all over the world.

Oh, I share your outrage too about the pointless killings. I'm no big fan of Obama, but he may get my vote on this issue alone.

You know, we are going to die. My lovely children are going to die. Your's are too. It's pretty much more than I can bare.

Apparently, some people want Yomama to be the new RFK.

Whatever. I got started down the rabbit hole and probably won't stop anytime soon, but that's my personal choice. If I could have a do-over, I'd be a peasant somewhere where such are still appreciated. But I'm not, I'm a relatively wealthy american. None of this would matter much to me, except I have a young child. Is the fat life in America better than life in what we would consider camping?

Yes, everyone and every thing dies. That's part of the song of life, strangely.
