$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mercurygirl', 'O')K, I didn't get the joke.
I have to disagree with EB. Ain't no way we pull entirely out of Iraq, no matter who is elected. Don't you know what's beneath the sand there?
I do know what's in their sand. Do you? Maybe not. I'll tell you. It's blood. More and more blood each day we remain there. An immediate and full removal of US military forces is the only ethical option.
And there's no way the USA can pull out in any way other than 'entirely', because a reduced force will sit trapped in the Green Zone waiting for the next mortar shell to rain upon their heads. A partial reduction will leave the remaining soldiers sitting ducks for attacks from the Iraqi patriotic resistance forces.
It's either keep the troop levels at or near where they are now, or complete a 100% pull out, which is exactly what Obama has promised to do shortly after getting sworn in. Not a suicidal 'partial' reduction, but a 100% removal of US forces. If he's elected, I hope he carries out this promise.
The Iraqi oil will be needed way more 10 or 20 years from now than it is today, and hopefully by then we can take the moral and economical route and simply buy it from them rather than lie, kill, and steal it from them as we're doing now and planning to continue doing for the foreseeable future.
