I'm not trying to push a Gordon Gecko anti-morality. I'm just saying if everyone took a closer look at their lives they'd realize they aren't as guiltless as they seem. Ever won a job over someone else? Maybe that guy was in financial straights, and jumped off a bridge because he couldn't support his family.

It wouldn't be the person's fault if the other guy committed suicide. Life is tough, and the person who got the job won it fair and square, and it's not his fault that some chicken shit couldn't deal with the shit life threw at him.

Imagine how the world would be if we had to give into whiney suicidal wimps. They'd say, "give me your job and $5000 or I'll jump of a bridge." What am I supposed to do... give that hypothetical emo clown what he requested? No fucking way. This life is tough, you gotta earn your keep. If someone wanted an easy life, then they were born on the wrong fucking planet.

Also, I don't see how this comparison has anything to do with the elites. The guy getting the job is just trying to survive and he happened to be lucky enough to win the job over the whiney emo guy. The elites on the other hand, have to have more and more and more and more money... similar to a fat man stuffing his face while others starve in front of him, they're never satisfied. The only reason they give is because they have ulterior motives, such as boosting their already gigantic ego (ex..."I'm so rich I that I can give all this money away and it barely dents my bank account"), good public relations, etc. There is no comparison between someone who is middle class or lower and those rich bastards. They are wolves in sheep hearder's clothing and the majority of society is the sheep.

My life's been really easy, except for health problems. I haven't found it "tough" except for the health problems and shyness.

Guess I was born on the wrong planet! 8O

Relatively speaking pretty much all of us with a computer have had a darned easy life irrespective of the whinings from our inner child.

Everyone lives on a small planet that sits atop their shoulders.

I hope you have made strides in your shyness discussing things here. You don't strike me as shy at all.

Thanks, BigTex, it's much easier in some ways to talk on a messageboard than in person, though thanks to pharmaceuticals my social anxiety isn't nearly what it used to be. I still consider myself rather poorly socialized, though. Can't do small talk very well. :)

Too many people here have a lot of pent up anger. They almost want PO to break out so they can start killing people (or eating them). Or at the very least, they are so bitter about what humanity has come to, that they want to see us go extinct.

Mos, I had a strange thought today regarding this statement. Here is another angle.

(speaking in generalizations) As adult children we understand that someday our parents will die. We love them and want them around and wish they would live forever. But they won't, and that hurts us, and it can make us feel angry at them. Because it is an inevitable hurt there can also be a wish to "get it over." That does not mean we hate our parents but that we hate the pain we will face. Intellectually, because we observe others, we know that once they have passed then we can heal and go on.

It struck me that there are, or may be, some parallels to the coming Die-Off.

Yesterday on the way home listening to NPR they did a long piece on a couple in China and their failed attempts to rescue their parents and baby. It made me cry. Yet intellectually I know that we are in overshoot and that great lessening the population is inevitable, even necessary.

I think that some of what we hear in this forum is people hashing out their ideas and emotions. Not always coherently. I think that the forum is a great mental health resource for where else could you deal with such issues?
