Who wants to place bets on how long until $125? $150.00?

Interesting. I was thinking (earliest) around July for $150.00. Though, right now there are certain people predicting a doubling curve of 18 months for oil. 100 - 200 - 400 - 800

The rate of increase has been pretty steady for weeks. I just projected this steady rise out. I'd put more stock in the 125 figure than the 150 though. These are crazy times and its's hard to tell. Oh, the 6,666,666,666 comes from a Drudge link.

That figure is pretty funny, my first day of finals starts that day. I still can't believe I have a final on saturday

It will take a hell of a lot longer to reach 7 billion than is projected with the food shortages just getting started now. I think we may never even reach that figure.

Then these current rises will have to slow down. It's gone up 5 or 6 bucks a week for three straight weeks. If anything the rate of increase is accelerating.

Malaysian Tapis crude's spot price at the moment is $122.38. We may all be shocked at how soon we see Nymex's price hitting highs we thought were way off in the future.

$300 per barrel by Sept 1, 2008. Hey, if this is about bidding high enough I'm not playin'. I've seen those Southeby's auctions. You know you just get to were the quaint little english guy is saying 'twice...sssss' and then someone raises it on you.

Forget that. I'm gettin' me some.

It will take a hell of a lot longer to reach 7 billion than is projected with the food shortages just getting started now. I think we may never even reach that figure.

At some point I had a very heated argument with Monte about that.

My claim is that human population would never exceed 7.5 billion because dieoff will set in before that.

Monte was arguing that we will reach 9.0 billion at least, because demographers say so.
My counterarguments were that demographers are living in VR world producing useless computer models not corresponding to physical reality.
I think, he later accepted that we may not go above 8.5 billion if lucky enough (that was base on study of yet another set of demographers).

Emerging food crisis may well vindicate my position of no more then 7.5 billions max.

I think we are at or will very shortly reach peak population. I expect there to be left fewer than 2/3*3/4 = 1/4 of the current world population, or there abouts, by 2020 give or take a couple decades.
