$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'T')he madness America started in Iraq is costing around 150 billion/year in borrowed money and with absolutely no gain to show for it... only horrific and idiotic losses.
The gains we are seeing are long sought after stability in the Middle East and very long-term payoff on rebuilding countries there starting with Afghanistan & Iraq just like we had rebuilding Asia & Europe post WWII. I would think even a San Francisco liberal could see the value of our newfound Kabul to Baghdad corridor and the things that go with it like previously unavailable intelligence for starters. Where is Saddam’s former gigantic pile of weapons again?
Haven’t you noticed Bashar al-Assad has found himself a whole new attitude lately? You think that might have something to do with George’s lovely carriers and the like sitting in close proximity?
Haven’t you noticed Mu'ammar Gadhafi has found himself a whole new attitude lately? You think that might have something to do with George’s lovely carriers and the like sitting in close proximity?
Haven’t you noticed even Pakistan got real friendly with US real quick recently?
Haven’t you noticed the dominos are falling everywhere in the Middle East and that Daisy Cutters are getting the attention of those who were formally laughing at the crookedness & ineptness of the United Nations Debate Club?
Do you have any idea how may trillions will be spent here rebuilding countries in that region that need absolutely everything?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')o country, not even the USA, can keep that costly stupidity going for very long. Projecting military power on such a massive scale into another similarly sized or larger theater has been long known by just about everyone to be next to impossible without initiating a war-economy on the US population. That, incidentally would be a tough-sell when the results and outcome are known to be more insane and pointless destruction.
Maybe next time we can get those like Vladimir & Jacques to help us out a pinch instead of dirty dealing out the back door like they were doing with Saddam and the little oil-for-food thingy. We should have never had to take out Saddam on our own but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
