Because malaria is a tropical disease. Bangladesh straddles the Tropic of Cancer, and most people that are indigenous to tropical/sub-tropical areas already have at least some immunity, whereas white people from northern latitudes don't, just as the natives of the Americas had virtually no immunity to diseases that developed in the European latitudes.

Then I suggest they move the testing site to the Ukraine.
Not that the Ukrainians are worth any less than any other human beings. They are just more likely to take risks like this in order to get this money (which means more to them than us).
Mostly likely a couple of dumb, broke university students in the US will sign up, get malaria, and be miserable for the rest of their lives.
