Most Bizarre Thing You've Ever Seen

Unread postby BigTex » Sun 03 Feb 2008, 19:13:33

I'm looking for things like UFO or alien encounters, miracles, levitation, time travel, psychic powers, Coast to Coast stuff.

For me, the most bizarre thing I've seen (or heard about) was probably some of the UFO encounters I've seen on television. I'm hoping there are eyewitnesses here to some good stuff.

If you think you might have imagined it or were drunk or on drugs at the time, don't post it. Sorry, that cut some of mine out as well (including a soundwave hitting a guy).

I guess it would have to be this thing that washed up on shore. I think it was a salp.

I once saw a guy trying to fuck a goose. Does this count?

Yeah, that counts, I guess.

On that topic, any police officers here, please hold off on the stupid human stories. Every cop has a lot of those.

I once watched this 15 year old institutionalized kid projectile vomit 2 foot into the air (toward the camera that was in his room)

He did this a couple of times until I told him that he would have to clean it up.

Then he started to behave like a perfect gentleman and, after he cleaned up after his little trick he got to go to bed.

When I was a boy, my friend and I were hunting for crayfish in the creek behind my house. I lifted up a rock and saw the biggest goddamned crayfish that ever was and ever will be. It was the size of a small lobster, unnaturally large. My friend was standing right beside me, and he saw it too.

But lifting up that rock stirred up a cloud of mud, which passed downstream over the crayfish. When the creek finally cleared, the crayfish was gone. But I swear on my left testicle, that was the biggest goddamned crayfish that ever was and ever will be.

I almost forgot about the Great Duck Massacre of 1988. I came home from school and headed down to the creek for some salmon fishing, it being fall. The creek was strewn with dead mangled ducks and swans, dozens of them. It was very bizzare and macabre.

I walked up and down the creek, and every 20 feet or so was a dead duck or swan, with the wings or feet or head gone. There was one swan that was still alive, but it was missing a big chunk of its back, the flesh all ripped up like pulled pork.

Soon all the neighborhood kids were down by the creek, poking at the dead birds with sticks and coming up with theories about what happened. Some said they were shot, others thought it was a rabid dog that killed them. I never found out what happened.

Animal cruelty, a young boy's favorite pasttime.

Once while we were fishing, my friend fed a piece of pepperoni to a seagull. It was choking all day long. It would fly away, then come back near us, hacking the whole time like an old man with emphysema.

A hynogogic hallucination I had of melting skeleton people standing beside the bed. They looked like ghosts. If I believed in ghosts, I would believe I had definitely seen ghosts. Scared the heck out of me!

oops, sorry, I missed the part about "imagined it" - I'm not sure if hallucinations count as imagination. I was not on drugs, this was spontaneous.

Drat, it probably doesn't count. :(

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')ypnagogic hallucination is episodes of seeing and hearing things as one is falling asleep. These dreams can be frightening and can often cause a sudden jerk and arousal just before sleep onset. For example, you may see yourself falling and awaken with a sudden jerk, just before impact. As the subject drifts off to sleep, he/she moves into a state that
combines the environment, of which the subject is still partially aware, with a dream-like state of sleep, in which he might see people and hear them talking. The experiences are often frightening. Sleep deprivation, irregular sleep schedules, and medications all can predispose to occurrences of this phenomenon.

Just in case someone other than I needed to look it up.

Wow. Apparently, the ecclectic backgrounds and expertise of PO members doesn't translate (at least so far) into impressive bizarre experiences.

Anybody levitated? Maybe just a quarter inch or so? Maybe even felt like you were on the verge of levitating?

I'll lower the bar and say that if you'd had a six pack or less to drink it still counts.

That's the kind of thing I'm trying to filter out. It's a valid experience, but doesn't suggest any transcendence of the laws of the physical world.

Anyone been to India? Seen any magic carpets or anything like that?

You can trancensend the laws of physics.

I know, but your account of the experience is more reliable if you weren't stoned to the bone when it happened.

I've been to India, and I saw a lot of carpets. I think my personal tour guide had a deal with the carpet weavers or something. I did see a tribe of monkeys living in the middle of a city. I also saw every form of transport in the history of humanity crammed on a two-lane highway from Jaipur to Agra. I also saw a man cleaning up elephant shit with a hand shovel. I'm guessing he was from the lower caste.

Two different UFO sightings involving groups of people, not just me and a friend. Don't know what they were, just weird lights moving in unnatural ways.

Ball lightning that persisted for several minutes.

Lightning strike that burned a hole in my pillow. Also killed my Commodore 64 .

Commodore 64 'repaired' itself a few days later.

I often observe what I have come to call a near field effect. Technology that won't work for other people works when I try it. Kind of like faith healing for radios and such. Sometimes vending machines give me the product and more change back than I put in.

The biggest one is my daughter. She was conceived about 10 years after my vasectomy. On a two week cross-country car trip with my wife. Near as we can tell in -wait for it- Roswell, NM.
Civilization is a personal choice.
