The populace is starting to become ready to accept the pragmatic, real reasons for the US forward foreign policy. No more "spreading liberty and democracy" lip service bullshit.
I think the populace has been, and will always be, ready to accept the real reasons. Everyone knew deep down what Iraq was about, you just can't say or admit it. The Christians especially can't admit it's about grabbing resources, the hypocrisy would be too much to bear.Who's oil would Jesus steal? I think too alot of fundamentalist , southern baptist type christians absolutely love that Muslims are being massacred.I'll bet neanderthals killed each other over which cave-bear to worship. I don't think you'll see the gubmint' ever publicly admit that they're invading or killing a country for oil, our declarations that we're doing it to fight terrorism and spread democracy is what enables some of our allies to pretend they believe us , thus lending a stinky air of legitamacy to what we do.
Yeah, I think deep down, even the most naive in America understood what the US foreign policy is all about, but now it's starting to come out in the open. The media, and the public officials are at the point where a big lie is not necessary anymore. Kind of like the pregnant daughter syndrome. The bulge in her belly can't be hidden anymore, and people either choose to ignore it for their own morals' sake, or are now acknowledging it without really acknowledging it. Kind of like the drunk in the family. Everyone knows, and understands, but everyone kind of accepts it or allows it to go on. Except the drunk is starting to cause more overt problems that are harder to ignore. That tipping point when reality says..."look at me! You can't ignore me anymore!".
