$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')ou know what the say, finders keepers, losers weepers. Well, a Cleveland contractor found a lot of money, old rare bills, hidden in the walls of a home he was hired to remodel. It's a lot of cash, and he wants to keep it.
The problem is the walls aren't his, and no one knows who that money belongs to.
The house belongs to Amanda Reece.
Contractor Bob Kitts was about to begin work on Reece's bathroom when he found the cash, 182 thousand dollars, stashed in the walls.
It was wrapped in newspapers from 1949, along with articles about Adolf Hitler and Elliott Ness. Like a fine wine, this cash has grown more valuable with time. Appraisers say it's really worth half a million dollars. Is there any chance that Kitts will see any of that money?
Reece's attorney says it amounts to a "shakedown."
Kitts and his attorney think the 10 percent that Reece offered Kitts the day he found the money is far from fair. So they filed a lawsuit, citing the "Treasure Trove or Finders Keepers Law."
