General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

Can you survive on .68 a day?

Postby roccman » Fri 07 Dec 2007, 20:08:30

Light House seems to think it is not possible to live in America on .68 a day.

And that the only way to live on .68 a day is to dig food out of a dumpster.

Light house also thinks that using public libraries is a sign of being destitute.

http://www.peakoil.com/post563405.html#563405

I think Light House needs to read more about powering down.

One can buy a year supply of legumes in super pails at:

www.beprepared.com

In a pinch you could sprout them.

What say you?

Ok roccman I accept the fact that you can't afford to spend more than $0.68 a day on food.

How do you pay for internet access than?

Oh I see, free access in public libraries. It's warm in there in Winter and you have a lot of good books around, so you will never be bored.

But wait a minute. You do not read books.

I must be wrong ...

And why should I power down now? I enjoy life the fullest as long as I can.

roccman I'll meet you at the camp fire in a post peak oil world and tell you stories about how I enjoyed myself when it was still possible while you will proudly tell me that you lived on 68 Cents already in 2007.

If I recall correctly - you got your ass handed to you by the one ...the only ...Monte for not reading the one...the only book that really matters in any of the discussions on this board...

People who are ignorant of their own ignorance need to be dragged out into the street and shot.

Come on, now you have to get Monte to the rescue? Ran out of ideas so quickly? Have you nothing to say by yourself? Do you really need someone else to give you more credibility?

Obviously you do.

And please let us not derail this thread, which actually belongs in the HOF and not in OD and make it into another "Carrying Capacity" thread ...

I'm afraid but I never expected that you could do better then that...

Pathetic.

Typical roccman conclusion. Not based on any facts, just assumptions. Would you enlighten us how you came to this fallacious peroration?

See roccman, statements like this one are what made your credibility - assuming you ever had credibility in the first place - completely disappear.

You said that you fight a good fight. But how good is your fight if no-one takes anything you say serious because you do not now how to behave yourself?

And you are not...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Lighthouse', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MonteQuest', 'L')ighthouse,

You need to read Overshoot: The Ecological Basis for Revolutionary Change by William Catton.

You don't have a clue about what you are talking about.

Here are some links to some excerpts:

Dependence on Phantom Carrying Capacity

Industrialization: Prelude to Collapse

Especially read this one:

The Problem of Denial of Overshoot

I admitted already that I was wrong.

Now leave me alone I will be totally drunk at least for the next three weeks ....

Had any drinks tonight LH?

You must have the memory span of gold fish. It is not your fault. Or did you not read the rest of that particular thread?

Again, as usual you use selective evidence out of context to support your argument.

Try again. Next time with more effort please. At the moment you are not intellectual challenging at all, rather boring I have to say, but somehow fun to watch like the worm on the hook winding around before he gets eaten by the fish.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pretorian', 'G')uys, what does it all have to do with living on 68 cents a day?

And how is living today on what costs 68 cents in today's economy necessarily relevant to tomorrow? Besides I guess the factor of just knowing you can be frugal if you need to?
