Wow, I'd be hard-pressed to name just one. The Matrix, that would be the one, but not Matrix 2 or 3 - they couldn't quite live up to the original.
I thought Space Odyssey was kind of slow and *yawn* boring

- it was much better to read the original books by Arthur C. Clarke.
Well believe it or not I haven't seen Blade Runner yet! But I'd suppose many of the cyberpunk-type movies owe a lot to this one. That would include the Matrix, and not to forget the Japanese anime side of things - Ghost in the Shell (the original one) and Appleseed 2004.
And a special mention for "The Day After Tomorrow" - for helping to bring the burning fossil fuel / climate change debate into the public consciousness.
What else - the classic Battlestar Galactica pilot, the original Star Wars (Ep IV, V, VI), some of the Star Trek ones (except ST:V of course lol).
TEOTWAWKI-type : Armageddon, Indepedence Day, Day After Tomorrow gets a second mention here.
And what would any Peak Oil discussion be without mention of the "Mad Max" series??! Hmm? But I only caught Beyond Thunderdome (I think), as a kid, can't remember that much now. Something about nuclear war, he brings some kids around in a plane, tells them about the kind of technology they used to have, and they went "wow, video! TV!" or something like that. Was that the one or was that another film. Well, anyway.
On the other end of the scale, if they made a film of the Warstrider series by William Keith (Type 1-2-3 Civilizations), the Technocracy folks might be happy, lol
