$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', 'Y')eah, that is exactly what I am saying
No that is not what I am saying, I am not going to argue with you about what I believe. You are free to believe what you want to believe.
But I will say one poor Jew goes walking around Roman occupied Judea, preaching for three years and one of the worlds most influential religions is born.
Ok - I just find it odd that there is not one reference anywhere of his existance
during the time was alive.
I also find it odd that almost every major religion that came before Jesus used the exact same story that Jesus was attributed...
1) Born on 12.25
2) Born of a virgin
3) Visited by 3 kings
4) called the "lamb of god"
5) was crucified
6) on the third day rose from the dead.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('POAlex', 'N')arz,
Here's what the Bible tells us.
God did not create this world this way, but when sin was brought in because of our disobiedence we've become separated. The world as we know it is fallen and cursed because of sin.
Why would God curse His own world? How is cursing a sinner going to redeem him?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('POAlex', 'O')ne thing I don't quite get is why would we worship the creation and not the Creator? Its like suggesting someone paint a great painting and put it in an art show. Then tell everyone walking past that they should compliment the painting for doing such a good job.
That makes no sense.
Humanity makes the art, nature makes the art. God may have set the wheels in motion (suspending disbelief for a moment to say there is a God) but he sure ain't doing sh!t now.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('POAlex', 'W')hat makes sense is that we were made to have a relationship with God but our sin is getting in the way of that. Jesus is that bridge or mediator because He paid the fine for sin.
That doesn't make much sense to me but if it helps you.
Whatever I've done wrong in this lifetime, I
don't want Jesus or anyone else to suffer for (or magically remove it). I want to learn for myself and change myself.
Discussions with religious folks rarely get anywhere but I may play for another couple of posts just for fun.
Really though Alex. Do you truly believe the Bible? That man cannot love the world & also love God. Does that really make sense to you? This world is all we've got. The idea that the natural world is an abstraction and "God" is real is one of the reasons for the wholesale destruction of the Earth. IMO, it is misguided and preventable.
Also, I echo the qestions of the above posters. How do you know your God is the real one? If you'd be born Muslim don't you think you'd be feeling the same way about Allah (or Hindu - Brahman, etc.?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jasonraymondson', 'W')hen it comes to logic and religion... never the twain shall meet.
the more that seems to be the case. However it's my nature to try to understand and help.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jasonraymondson', ' ')Just give it up and focus on some good old porn at redtube.com
No porn, must resist, saving up for when I get back to my lady next week.
Nice video BTW. I'm usually disappointed w/ comedy these days but that wasn't bad.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SpringCreekFarm', '
')I'm in the camp that religion was created by man to control man.
I don't think this way. At least not if you mean some conspired to control others by inventing stories. The deeper meaning is ritual. Sacred rites. Something to say over the graves of loved ones. Something to say when a young man and woman get married. Something to say when their babies are born. And even having something to say at all. I'm no theologian, but that's my impression.

This is the same kind of stuff that's being propogated by the Zeitgeist movie. Its all completely false.
For example, there's nothing in the Bible about Jesus birth day being 12/25 and the Christmas celebration is a creation of the Roman Catholic Church. So anyone who tries to dispute Christ's existence using that, has obviously not even looked at the basic facts.

Please don't do yourself a disservice and believe this kind of stuff without researching it yourself. Too much is at stake here.
