$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Tyler_JC', 'I') understand nicotine is a horrible habit to break but you've got to do it if you care about your long term health.
I've known some octogenarian pipe smokers. My favorite historical anecdote about pipe smokers was of an Irish woman from County Monaghan who smoked her dudeen (clay pipe) every day, lived through An Gorta Mor, otherwise known as the Irish potato famine, and was active and alert every day of her 105 years. Yeah, she's at one end of a statistical curve. I think the lesson here is to get off your ass now and then, if not non-stop.
Also smoke a pipe - mostly those clays. Was going to mention gg3 but here he is! Captain Black, urkkkk...

It's commonly available of course, but it's a cheap Cavendish, those are chock full of sweeteners, rum, brandy. No, you won't get schnozzled. Many like 'em but I stick to "English" tobaccos that are just pure leaf mostly. Those smoke cooler, too. If there's no real tobacconist in your area (rarer and rarer these days) you can order a couple ounces from suppliers like
Habana Pipes and Cigars. Cheap pipes work well, too.
And speaking of pipe vs. cig, ever look at what they put in coffin nails these days?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')here are more than 4,000 ingredients in a cigarette other than tobacco. Common additives include yeast, wine, caffeine, beeswax and chocolate. Here are some other ingredients:
Ammonia: Household cleaner
Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals
Arsenic: Used in rat poisons
Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber
Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid
Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas
Cadmium: Used in batteries
Cyanide: Deadly poison
DDT: A banned insecticide
Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals
Lead: Poisonous in high doses
Formaldehiyde: Used to preserve dead specimens
Methoprene: Insecticide
Megastigmatrienone: Chemical naturally found in grapefruit juice
Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics
Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs
Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984
Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element
If you take apart a Marly and look under a magnifying glass you'll see some truly odd widgets. Mostly these rogue elements are preservatives and material to keep it burning no matter what. Somking a pipe takes a bit of nursing but the tobacco's free of all these crazy additives.
If we go agrarian everyone will go back to smoking like fiends, believe me. I've some seeds and a book on growing tobac; lotta people in the UK do that as a cost saving measure, too.
