I also have to disagree with the premise. You would not make it that far. Esp after the SHTF. At night the house will be sealed up without anyway for someone on the outside to see where I am on the inside. You would have to expose yourself as you bash through the locks (read the galvanized steel pipe which keeps the door in place).

I have yet to know a perp that likes to be that exposed.

Roccman's three dogs might buy him enough time to grab a weapon and take cover. If all you have is a 22 lb fur ball, you are in trouble. Dogs are an okay first line of defense, but I would want a weapon in my hands.

I doubt anyone would hang around with that thing going off and if someone did then they would be greeted with the business end of a riot shotgun. That or a Springfield Xd 45, one hell of a handgun if you have the means do get one.

I would be awake before you even got to the house... Its very quiet out here and the dogs would be on to you in a minute (I've tested this theory) So basically you would hear a "kachunk" and "freeze asshole" from behind a random tree - if you try something then you take a 1oz slug from a 12 gauge...

If you managed to make it all the way into the bedroom, you'd meet my little friend the Firestar 9MM high capacity loaded with alternating rounds of Red Dot and snake shot. I would not want to get in front of either of those loads. It's parked in such a way that I could get it in the dark in less than 2 seconds, and practice doing so from time to time.

Oh. And I am a light sleeper.
