$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Revi', 'I')t's the main reason I'm sticking around, to see the show. It looks like Peak Oil could save our butts. If we don't have the energy to scoop all that coal out we might not be able to stick enough carbon in the air to cook ourselves off the planet. I saw a thing on global dimming, and it is probably cooling us down by a degree celsius, while the greenhouse effect is heating us up by a degree and a half so far. The two are cancelling eachother out, but greenhouse warming may be getting the upper hand now.
A friend said not to worry about Peak Oil, as the real problem is Global Warming. After I thought about it, I decided that living without oil will be a piece of cake compared to living in the worldwide desert that could be the result of GW. According to Lovelock it's very possible that the only inhabitable parts of the planet will be around the poles. When Gaia gets pissed we had better watch out. It could be hundreds of thousands of years before we get back to a stable climate again.
Global dimming is GW evil twin as you mentioned.
Between 9.11-9.14-01 scientist measured temps across america in the absence of planes...a 3-6 degree jump.(f).
We need fossil fuels to be burnt to keep a pollution blanket covering us.
Actually I think we are fucked either way...so I say jump off the train and let's build a boat.
Who's with me??
