Battery Prices Up 15-20 Pct From Today$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')- The prices of automotive batteries will go up by between 15 percent and 20 percent, depending on the models, effective Thursday due to
rising lead prices, Battery Manufacturers Association of Malaysia said.
Its president, Chow Siew Hon, said the price of lead, one of the major components in the battery, had increased by
591 percent compared with US$467 (US$1=RM3.45) in June 2003.
Is it because of lead acid battery EV car conversions or just an increase in the Global number of cars thanks to Chindia? The primary commercial use for lead of course is in making batteries.
Would we hit "peak lead" if everybody started driving lead acid battery EV cars?
