I'll miss waiting for the crash! This whole thing is thrilling!!

On the subject of open-minded people...I have made it a point to surround myself with them...not too comfortable around the "Zombies".

I don't know anyone as open-minded as myself in touchy life. I do make contact with several online though, which is still nicer than nothing.

Visiting wilderness retreats, road trips in general.

Swimming in my local pool - I wonder how long public pools will be around.

The huge variety (and affordability) of items available at the supermarket. As the hunter-gatherer of my family, I will miss being able to bring home all the things our household needs on demand. I will learn to be the producer of many of the things our household needs.

I will miss knowing what is happening beyond ear shot.

Talk about a life of surprises. Illinois could form a religious based monarchy and threaten Jihad (just an inner struggle you know :) against all things wisconsin and how long would it take for me to find out?

My early childhood years were off the grid, and the later years were pretty basic, so I'll be fine without some of the creature comforts. But if it gets as bad as some of you guys think, then I will miss movies real bad, I love movies, from dumb-ass blockbusters to old classics to low budget splatter to euro art house, I love em all. Worst of all tho, I'll miss new books. No more new books would just about kill me, I think.

Can't think of much else right at this moment, but I guess that's what wine does to you

high impact aerobics classes, like they taught in the '80's.

sort of like Jazzercise, after 6 expressos. a lot of fun with a good instructor & a good class.

What I'm afraid I'll miss - Hot water on demand (hot showers), and any foods that don't grow in my area (morning coffee comes to mind). Both may still be available - but not without extra effort and extra expense. Things we take for granted now.

What worries me most - difficulty in getting medications. Carlin is on a few, but I'm hopeful that we'll still be able to get his at least as long as there is a functioning government - he gets them through the veterans' adminstration. I'm hopeful at least.

When, not if, TSHTF, I'll miss:

-some of my friends, perhaps a few will miss me.

-the ability to drive to the store and return safely when I have a need for something simple, say, laundry detergent.

-Access to information from many sources and viewpoints regarding events throughout the world.

-Sleeping peacefully.

-Tagamet, antihistamines, ibuprofen

-Refrigeration

-having no roommate

-cheap accessible tobacco and alcohol, and the window of opportunity to consume it in a carefree manner

-electricity

---

Things I won't miss:

-rap music from cars driving by

-lawyers and insurance companies

-junk mail

-lines at the Dept of Motor Vehicles

-filling out forms

I've discussed what i'll miss before. biggest being alcohol and tobacco (although I can make/grow this). I will also miss times when I used to come home, put on the TV, put my feet up and just chill out. For the first years of this there will be very little chilling out, thats for sure although perhaps a different type to commuting/money/work.

Things I wont miss-

Globalization
Rap music
CCTV cameras and electronics
Commuting
Supermarkets (ok maybe not when im hungry, but the whole fabric of them is something I detest
Plastic Packaging
People's arrogance, brought on by thinking man is better than nature
Urbanization

Do you think we'll still get pistachios in Virginia? US produces all its pistachios domestically, but 95% of the 300million pounds is produced in California. Tasty Nut

These snacks are sooo good.

I think the US grows more pistachios than anyone except Iran.
