Lol, it all depends on WHEN you are talking about, the Catholic Church has been here for 1600 years, surely you do not asusme that the culture remained static for all that time? It was only in the 1500's that marriage ages started increasing, in the 700-1200 era many arranged marriages were between 12-14 year old couples. As soon as puberty hit they were married off. Once the population recovered from the Black Death in the 1400's a demographic shift took place and marriage ages started to climb.
