Violence follows Hamas accusation

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '"')We did not join this movement to become ministers but rather to become martyrs."

In that case, things may be going according to plan. It continues to escalate. We'll see how far they take it.

Yeah, they should be "alarmed":

So much for the "cease fire":

Schools shut amid Gaza 'anarchy'

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')ighting has flared since Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday called for new elections, a move the Hamas-led government branded a "coup".

The BBC's Nick Thorpe in Gaza says there is little sign of the ceasefire to which both sides had agreed on Sunday.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')srael loves the number 10.

Judaism suggests a 10% tithe.

And the Torah! Torah! Torah! love killing 10 muslims for every jew killed.
Have you not been paying attention to the numbers since '48?

10 to 1 is the accepted ratio.

namaste

Raphael

So Israelis should work to make that ratio more even? Do you even know how many arabs have died in the entire history of the Israel/arab conflicy........less than 100,000 in 60 years. This is a tiny number compared to other wars, like how about the second congo war (1998-2003), in which over 3 million people died in 5 years of fighting. But you don't care about these people do you, because it's only blacks killing other blacks. Raphael, it's obvious your hatred for jews dominates your thinking, and that hatred only makes Israel stronger, by reinforcing the idea that we need a state no matter the cost. BTW, armies don't usually work to make ratios of us to them killed more even. In the 1990 gulf war, the ratio (according to wikipedia) was 66 to 1. In the six day war, it was 26 to 1.

Just like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, you would get a lot more respect if you didn't continuously claim that white people hate you.

Portraying yourself as the victim of white hatred gets old real quick.

White people at http://stormfront.org may hate jews, but here the vast majority do not.

The peace didn't last. Things are getting bad:

Palestinian fighting 'will burn all of us,' official says

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'R')ival factions killed more than two dozen people Tuesday in bitter fighting that has left Gaza sliding into chaos, Palestinian officials said.

As Fatah radio called on fighters to confront Hamas militants and broadcasts from Hamas fighters urged their Fatah foes to abandon their posts or face death, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas appealed in vain for a cease-fire.

What a mess...

The NY TIMES had an interesting article on "Jihadi etiquette" last weekend. The NYTimes said that Islamicists like Hamas don't care if they
kill innocent people along with the targets of their attacks, because
Allah will sort them all out after death and award the requisite number of virgins to any innocent people who were accidently killed.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/10/weeki ... 0moss.html

People with those kind of nutty views aren't going to be very careful about using violence. 8)

In the typical car bombing, some Islamists say, God will identify those who deserve to die — for example, anyone helping the enemy — and send them to hell. The other victims will go to paradise. “The innocent who is hurt, he won’t suffer,” Dr. Massari says. “He becomes a martyr himself.”

from the NYTIMES article on Jihadi etiquette.

Sounds like Hamas is defeating Fatah in Gaza...they've got control
of the main road, the high sniper positions, and are attacking the
remaining Fatah strongholds.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070613/D8PNTGOG1.html

Since Fatah still controls the West Bank, this civil war effectively
will produce two separate Palestinian "entities." 8)

So much of religion, no matter which, at the street level is only the evolutionary imperative in disguise. All of the rules are merely clever guides to ensure the survival of the race or group. Very little actual thought goes into the rituals. In most cases something that a person has absolutely no control over, being born, dictates their membership. For many that alone is a life sentence.

It is only when you get off of the street and into the higher levels of religion that you get treated to anything that goes against the imperative. It is only there that you hear of concepts such as justice and mercy, self-sacrifice and love. Sadly most of the time that talk only serves as the fuel that keeps the masses on the street going. They are hung up on the sacrifice side of, "Go and learn what this means. 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice'".

Keeping the imperative in mind I will step out on a limb and say that none of this has anything to do with religion. The Iranians are testing the waters, that is true. The reason they are testing the waters is because the Saudis might just be past peak. The more unrest in those areas once kept calm by the commercial (read Marx) influence of the Saudis the more pressure there is to unveil the true Saudi reserve situation. That's the way it goes in a zero sum game. Next up after Lebanon and failure in Iraq will probably be Saudi Arabia itself. Even now the Saudis are plotting not to let that happen.
When it comes down to it, the people will always shout, "Free Barabbas." They love Barabbas. He's one of them. He has the same dreams. He does what they wish they could do. That other guy is more removed, more inscrutable. He makes them think. "Crucify him."

The Islamicists of Hamas would disagree with you....their stated goal is to
create an Islamic state in Palestine

That is their stated goal. I say it is just the evolutionary imperative at work again. That and a whole lot of support in the form of guns and ammo from Russia via Iran. There and in Lebanon as well. And anywhere else where it is necessary to hold control in order to pump the ME dry.

Watch out Israel. This kind of destabilization can mean that the US might be forced to bail on you as part of a vain flailing gesture designed to remain in control.
