I donated to Ron Paul's campaign. Never gave money to ANYONE before.

Not that he has much of a chance - but 10 years from now I want to be able to say - 'We had a guy who could have done something and I supported him with my hard earned cashe money - just what the hell did you do ?'

I figure it's worth a lot more than $10 to be able to say that some day. :)

Sorry, Paul scores just 5% by the LCV on environmental issues.

Well, he supports allowing individuals the liberty to use land as they please.

That's a lot different than just being pro-big oil or big coal.

I also never donate to anything, but this is the first time I would feel like my money would be well spent. Bad times are ahead, but if the USA can reduce its spending to a fraction of what it is, the effects would be more gradual and spread out. People would be able to adapt better. If we continue down our current course, the crash will be so bad, it will be like a bullet train slamming into a mountain.

The government needs to cut spending on not just the war, but so many other things. We have to stop building roads, and stop subsidizing industries. That may increase traffic and hurt jobs, but we need to spread the pain out, not just keeping borrowing and hoping the day of reckoning will never come.

Ummm ... you're on a PO website - as the oil disappears - environmental issues will :

a) be the last of your worries
b) solve themselves (less population - less energy use & corresponding pollution).
