$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Tyler_JC', 'I')f someone acquires a high school diploma without actually deserving that diploma, it is irrelevant because that person will never be in competition with you for a job or anything else for that matter.
That's not exactly true. I know many people with jobs that require a high school diploma. Employers do use it as an indicator of ability to read and do basic math.
It sucks when you spend the time and money to hire a person, only to find out they cannot figure a basic percentage or read a basic sentence. Business can compensate for that with pre-employment testing.
The real problem is that populations of comprised mainly of illiterate proles tend to result in authoritarian fascist or theocratic governments which do not value the American ideals of freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility.
Such governments tend to increase the level of human suffering in the world. I work with the
Humane Society of the United States to decrease the general level of animal suffering in the world. I also work for less human suffering in the world by promoting liberty, freedom, and personal responsibility. Education plays a huge role in that.
I see people who promote protests like those in the article I linked above as the same people who cause pit bull terriers to wind up chained to a tree for a lifetime of sores, fleas, heat, stale biscuits, and kicking.
