The + shows you the sites that link to the site At the start it shows 11600 results but if you go to the last displayed result you get this $this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')n order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 80 already displayed.
That way you can find what other people think about this site.

peakoil.org

I refer to peakoil.org as the initial site when trying to explain PO to others rather than peakoil.com. Needless to say those of us who are meanwhile on the forum level keep forgetting that there are newcommers every day. For explanation purposes peakoil. org is simply the best.

I agree it's the best intro/summary site. I haven't looked at it in a while but I'm glad to see it's still up and running.

Is there a site that will explain about oil without saying we will run out of oil?

The words "we will run out of oil" or "no more oil" scares people and they simply shut out anything else and just claim the authors are bias and crazy.

I think I want to see a site that will talk about oil production not being able to meet demands. If you phrase it like that and explained that it takes 10+ years to get a new oil field to full production and that demand is simply rising faster than we can built infrastructure, I think more people will be more willing to listen.

Also, if you phrase it like this, you can quote Exxon, Chevron, and other top CEO and other oil experts as saying the same thing that it will be a big challenge to meet oil demands because production cannot increase that much.

I think when people see the problem of oil unable to increase production, they will realize PO!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('purcatty', 'W')hen internet 2 is finally built, peak oil will no longer be allowed.
This control will not be allowed to exist for long.

Free Peak oil discussion will disappear just before the inescapable.

If we do not renounce all these wars immediately, the human race will disappear. Albert said so. And Albert has never been wrong yet.

I think your right. Once the government and the school get internet2 built ... all bandwidth of non approved sanctioned sites will be delegated to the exceptionally slow lane. It will take 5 minutes for a page to pull up and people will just stop posting.

Albert was wrong about quantum mechanics...

"God does not play dice with the universe."

IF internet 2 gets built, and IF peak oil hasn't gone mainstream by then, it could be limited to those with the fast lane.

Otherwise, I'd say we've got at least a couple healthy decades left.

Internet 2 is just a more technologically advanced and FASTER version of the internet.

The Peakoil.com discussion will continue to grow as the effects of the peakoil problem become more inescapable and more and more people become aware of the peak oil problem.

The geeks will never allow it to be shut down. The form may change, but the flow remains forever.

Guaranteed.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.

It will last either several years until governments worldwide go authoritarian/fascist and then crack on all dissent, or alternatively until consequences of PO are so pronounced, that all members will have far more important things to worry about.

I clicked on 10 years ..... although there have been a lot of changes in this country since 9-11-2001, even just since the war started in 2003. We could well get shut down in 5 years.

I can see people going back to BBS type stuff, on the phone lines, may be slow but it's plenty fast for text and may be too distributed (which the net was supposed to be but is increasingly not) for TPTB to stamp out.

Probably until we have more important things to worry about...like putting food on the table. By then, even the best prepared will be saying, "Why didn't I do more?"

Considering the fact that we are now most likely past peak I think it is fair to say that when the decline speeds up the MSM WILL cover PO.
