I wonder. No, seriously. Keep in mind that a significant number of people embraced their ideas and ideals, even as they came to fruition in Germany.

And then, let's contrast that with Stalin and his calculated mass murders. Or Pol Pot. Or the Japanese from Nanking onward - including vivesection of U.S. POWs. I wonder why Stalin's behavior is so often overlooked. It was just as cruel, just as calculating. But the icon of evil is not communism, but Nazism. Odd, isn't it?

I think, if you take a hard look at it, that humanity's history is filled with such things. They start up, they kill lots of people, they mellow, they fade - and then they become history. While the species survives, that same fluctuation will continue. Most people, given the choice between life under horrific circumstances and death will choose life.

I would ask readers to look carefully within. Given the choice between appearing to embrace the ideology of the (week/month/year/decade/century) and the eradication of the entire species, which would you prefer?

Me, I intend to survive. I'll adapt. I'd bet others will too.

Stalin's behaviour has hardly been overlooked. Preoccupation with Soviet atrocities was an American obsession. Being against Russia and Communism helped to define being American. Americans were SO focussed on the threat of Communist infiltration within US institutions and govt, that the threat of fascism was completely overlooked.

It is only now that Communism has been thoroughly discredited by actually losing the battle on all fronts, that American feel free to shift their focus towards the other looming threat. But alas, it is too little, too late, and fascism won.

I have been working a lot more days each month for the last year now since our pay cuts. Helps make up a few percent of what we lost. It also means I am traveling a good bit more and I bring my laptop everywhere now. Since I have a good bit of free time on layovers you should see many different sources for where Im getting on the net. I'm kind of surprised though I would think you would see this from many folks?

Another strange source is likely the gate computers in airports. Not even sure how that would show up. If we get delays or have more than 20-30 minutes of downtime I sometimes log in there through our yahoo shortcuts in the Delta net.

I am never far from my PO fix! :)

Good point Jack.

Nazism is not the only thing that could come up PO.

I personally think we are in more danger of having a left wing environmentalist brand of Socialism crop up.

There is already plenty of support for it and its take over would seem down right reasonable to many people. It would start off with reasonable ideas like reducing driving and the number of children people can have. But down the road they would start having mass carbon consumer reduction programs.

I am fascinated by this idea of interactive propaganda. I mean its one thing to mold mainstream media outlets by controlling editors of publications that reach millions, but to pay someone to post one site at a time? It cant possibly be cost effective, can it?

Then again how would one measure the effectiveness in dollar terms? Another fascinating idea. How does anyone suppose one would land such a fun job? Posting on forums all day long? Sounds good to me :).

The real question is who to shill for?

I like Zionist groups because they're relentless, dedicated, disciplined and ruthless. But they've clearly already got talented people doing it. Any central government would be right out, but I would like to shill for an organization that has a wide area of responsibility. Oil companies are not good because they're doomed no matter what, so I'm thinking something like Walmart.

Walmart clearly needs all the help it can get with regard to its image. Its all over the place and is a direct offshoot of the cheap oil bonanza - just the ticket!

As far as the airlinepilot thing goes - anything that winds up Neopo is all right in my opinion :P. I rather like his style, but as a debater he is absolutely shit. Couldn't argue his way out of a paper bag. Sorry bud. A good argument has structure and addresses counter arguments in a similar fashion. Being really, really sure doesnt count.

Plus he's an anti-semite.

Yea, especially with all the really great technology out there, you could automate this you know.

Well, if you have one now, which you might since you are a zionist scum bag  it will shortly be displaced by the power of perl and php. A slow zionist you are.

As for anti-semite which is what a slow zionist chooses for lack of any ideas, don't bother, the wifey is part Jewish and I love all races. You see Neopo attacks zionism, which is not necessarily an attack on the Jewish culture. I figure I'd point that out since you are obviously missing that point.

You went through the trouble of inciting a flame and you respond with this dribble. You really are a bore. Too bad the little zionist pebble in your head can't counterattack or it could have got interesting. Now, shoo away, you are stinking up the air.

Scary. Mexican Government Already in Disinformation Mode.

Unread postby SILENTTODD » Tue 01 Jan 2008, 00:57:47

Tonight I had on this New Year's Eve a very enlightening, and to my judgment scary conversation with someone I consider one of the most intelligent persons I know.

My friend Maria grew up in a fairly upper class family in Mexico City. One of her uncles was once Mayor of Mexico City. She came to this country almost 30 years ago escaping a bad marriage, at that time with a young daughter, and has since made success of her life in business and become an American citizen. She is extremely fluent in both Spanish and English (understands the jokes in both).

What she knows about Peak Oil comes from conversations with me, (and this subject is far and few between in my relations with her). This evening for one reason or another, the subject of the crashing of the Cantarell Oil Field came up. She told me she had recently heard on Mexican Radio (we are in the L.A. market); that Mexico was producing more oil than it ever had, and would continue to do so in the future. No argument from me could shake her from what ever she had heard on this broadcast. She accepted it as Gospel (even though she has a very low opinion of the Mexican Government).

What really bothered me more than her acceptance of an outright untruth was where did the Mexican radio station get its information? They wouldn’t know, or have an opinion on this subject any more than my friend Maria. This had to be coming out of the Government of Mexico itself! They, and everybody who reads this blog knows what the truth is, but they are choosing not to just remain silent, but broadcast a Lie!

Time to get out of Iraq Now! And put what's left of the Army on our own boarder (USA), as a buffer against the overwhelming multitude of refugees that will soon be besieging America from the south!

I would agree. Even though nearly everyone knows there is a serious problem with the illegal alien situation, I am very concerned that in a year or two, as things plummet in Mexico, we are really going to be swamped..... With our border guards already being shot at, we certainly do need our troops back home (especially the National Guard!).

I guess we will have to post lots of guards with guns at the Canadian border, to keep all those pesky American's from seeking shelter here.

This.

Two percent of GDP, but apparently one in five Mexicans receives regular payments, so that action could be making all the difference for society.

This will tank side by side with Cantarell and the state budget on recession alone, never mind whatever laws the US comes up with.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/ipm/supply.html (Table 1.1b) if she ever wants to check, by the way.

The Mexican government is in a tight spot.

What about the "North American Union", which is supposed to get rid of borders between US/Mexico (and US/Canada)? If all goes along as planned, then the plan is it implement this by 2010....

Hell yeah you will be able to protest with Jacque and Jose Sixpack about the price of food/energy/wages/medical care. You can have a fucking A tri lingual protest and all get tasered and or shot together.

It is quite sad that so many intelligent people are media lemmings. The media should never be given the benefit of the doubt. It is too powerful not to be abused in the name of power. But then, people do not want to stress about problems and it is easier to believe that things will be OK. So they make themselves receptive to BS.
