$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')They have spent decades contorlling the world's wealth, and oppressing the third world, and bullying the world in general.

-They have proven themselves, time after time, to be violent and dangerous in nature (Iraq - illegal war just the most recent example)

Hmm? It sounds as if you regard these as being, somehow, bad. I cannot imagine how.

Fortunately, as part of a country that's friendly with the U.S., you'll get some benefits from being on the right side.

And in this holiday season, please remember, "Blessed are the poor - for they cannot fight back."

The US is the root of all evil? Where is the support for your position? Since the US emerged as a world power, the world has seen the most fantastic explosion of scientific development and improvement in living conditions in all of history. The number, frequency and impact of wars went down almost as drastically.

Did the US start WW1? Did the US start WW2? The wars the US has started pale in comparison by orders of magnitude to those great conflicts.

Maybe you should give up "this computer thing" and do some reading.

Ailrickson,

You discredit yourself as an entrance to a forum posing, interesting. "You've got to stand for something" but oh my! nobody really knows. This seems elementary. :P

Ailrickson, i hate to tell you, but none of this information is news, and at least 50% of the USA knows it all too well.

i hope you got some sense of empowerment with your "sneak attack." i wish it was that easy for the rest of us.

if you decide to hate all of us based on what our nominal government and businesses do, i gotta say, you seem as stupid as the americans who rationalize the same behaviors you detest by making their own sweeping generalizations.

finally, since you think homosexuality is perverse, i suggest you don't engage in it.

fear is such a mind killer!

Trust me, it takes several years of consistent posting for most readers to acknowledge your existence. So don't think the world revolves around you.

Too late, Ail, Homeland Security already has your name and address. And not just because of the terrorist thoughtcrime posted in this forum, even more so for the heinous act of setting dumb canuck lyrics to the music of the great American Johnny Horton. So when TSHTF and the Canadian Authorities are working hand in glove with the Feds, you can expect a loud knocking on your door from the Mounties in the wee hours. Wouldn't it be funny if they were gay Mounties! Woo! Hoo! Ride 'im! Why do you think they call them "Mounties"?

How do we know when the end comes? Here's how we know. One day the internet is down. We go to the phones and they don't work either. We wait, maybe we try rebooting our computers. Nothing works. that's when we panic.

Ailrickson, you're in Canada but you're from an Islamic region of India. I would publish the area-code of your telephone number but that would be rude of me.

No, I don't disclose sources & methods.

So the USA is the root of all evil, from electricity and telephones, to airplanes, rockets to the moon, antibiotics, and the Internet. I see.

And as for our military, you do know where the Internet comes from, don't you? It was the Pentagon's gift of our First Amendment to the entire world, in a permanent form that is by its nature immune to the evils of censorship. The Internet is designed to route around damage, which is another way of saying: censors may try but liberty will always prevail. A permanent victory for freedom over tyranny, without a shot being fired or a single casualty.

We may make some terrible mistakes, but we have saved the world more than once, and will gladly do so again and again if called. Some of our own would-be tyrants both governmental and corporate, may fuss and fidget cynically with the levers of power, but the fact remains that for the average American in uniform, the main motivator is love. Love of our home, love of liberty, love of humanity, and the burning desire to protect all of these from anyone who would try to harm them. This seems to be something you can't grasp, and I am sorry to see that.

As for morality, do not purport to condemn love between consenting adults, from the perspective of the doctrines of a church whose officials have for decades been engaged in the world's largest and most pervasive conspiracy of child molestation and the covering-up of same. Stop picking at the motes in others' eyes and take the board out of your own.

By the way, that computer you're reading this on right now, traces its roots back to a man named Alan Turing, in England, in WW2. He was gay.

If you were consistent in your hatreds, you would cease using the (American military invented) Internet and never touch a (gay invented) computer keyboard again. But I suppose it's too much to expect that hatred and consistency, in the same sentence, constitute anything more than a slightly less than obvious oxymoron.

Do not support homosexual marriage and condem homosexuality (though I seperate the act from the person). I do not reject any individuals based on this, however, I oppose those who try and justify the act. Homosexuality is a perversion, and my morality does not include 'perversion' as an acceptable thing.

Wow! What interesting views do you have Ail.
I wonder, do you support S&M?

I probably shouldn't join in this brawl

Unread postby julianj » Fri 17 Dec 2004, 12:31:34

1. I was also going to bring up the Catholic/Overpopulation thing: how do you (Ailrickson) square the need for global population diminution by contraception and the Catholic Church's position?

2. Before WW2 the US was generally isolationist and had a tiny military, and I as a British person am extremely grateful that the US entered the war. However that was the start of the rise of the giant military industrial complex (when it got in touch with the Dark Side of the Force) since then that has been very worrying, and since 9/11 turned into Darth Vader.

3. I do think many Americans underestimate the hostility of the rest of the world to you, including your favourite client state, the UK. Previously we liked Americans, and didn't blame you(individually) for your militarist elite's excesses. But voting Bush in again was really the last straw.

I think you are likely to regret it. Realpolitik is not a game for the deluded, or those who screw up their military and intelligence services, as I expect you will find out.

To put it in Dr Strangelove terms, there's a big economic bomb coming your way, with Merry Xmas from the Rest of the World, written on it.

Hey Pent, I think you left out a few steps between no internet, no phone and panic. How about walking outside and talking to your neighbors, or getting in your car and driving to your town center. :-D

a. I've always admired Lord Vader; at least, before he weakened at the end.

b. I voted for President Bush in 2000 and again in 2004. He sent me a personally signed photograph back when we was governor of the State of Texas. I keep it in a place of honor.

c. Really? And the collateral damage from that economic bomb will hurt whom? To coin a phrase, "Bring it on!". It just might persuade the U.S. to toss the failed ideas of British economist (amateur economist, I should say) David Ricardo onto the trash heap of history.

I didn't suggest it would be painless.

But I'm living in a country with a welfare state and a (virtually) free healthcare service. So I know where I'd rather be.

Domus, that actually happened to me last night - server crashed, went to use the phone and it wasn't working either, so I watched the old movie Bonnie and Clyde. Couldn't it happen that way though? Everything seems to be holding up and then wham, one day the internet is just gone? Maybe it's cyber warfare, maybe it's our own elites getting us psyched out for the coup. Regarding "getting out" I'm half deaf so I don't mix much.

Sure you are - just like you were to me in the Hall of Flames? Granted it was in the Hall of Flames but I never gave you a reason for the onslaught.

There are a lot of good people on this website from all corners of the world and some that are not; however, I still respect those I don't agree with by doing it in a manner without insulting them right from the get-go. You don't start out at 100 kph unless you're a stupid fuck.

Time to do something about that pent-up sexual frustration, guy.
