We could stage protests but they wouldn't make the mainstream media (all owned by five companies). Large groups of people have protested but this misguided administration has labeled them as "irrelevant". With the technology that our government has to spy on people and monitor their every movement it's also a good way to get your name on a list.....a person of interest, that is (which is also highly unconstitutional).
What scares the hell out of me is this: the push to monitor American citizens in the name of the "War on Terrorism". The correlation between the Patriot Act(s) and Hitler's Enabling Act is extremely frightening. I mean all one has to do is change a few words (ex. Homeland to Fatherland) and you have set the stage for pre-WWII Germany all over again. What also scares me is the only option that looks plausible is getting the hell out of the country. With weapons technology as advanced as it is now, there is no where to hide.........except maybe in the shadow of the giant.
Too many Americans are distracted by shiny things (material crap, fashion trends, and television) to really care how many civil liberties are being taken away; however, I also think that 9/11/01 did wake-up a large amount of people into questioning everything that their government has been doing. The real question: is there enough time for enough people to wake-up to do something about P.O. and its consequences?
