It shouldn't come as a surprise that the guys he's arresting are all illegal aliens, who don't have drivers licenses, auto insurance, et cetera (of course the article doesn't mention that, because they don't want to be compared to hitler coming for the jews).

As the US quickly sinks to the status of the most corrupt nations of latin america. We should expect the following developments (most of which are occuring now):
1. More, more and more private cops and security companies
2. Regular 'public' cops will become increasingly corrupt. They're out on the streets, they see the game is rigged against them, so they become a criminal too (see: latin america)
3. The rise of a parallel justice system. The court system will start to become useless. The cops will bring the perp to your door and ask you if you want them to take him out behind the barn. You will most likely say yes. Otherwise, you will come up with some cash for a 'private security company' to handle your extra-judicial matters.
4. death squads. I can't wait!

The north american union of top to bottom corruption. It will be a much less complex society though (see: Tainter, collapse of complex societies). There won't be all those pesky laws and procedures to deal with. A single bullet will replace months and months of lawyer fees and courtroom proceedings.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Kylon', 'I') think that private security forces being able to circumvent the law might be a good thing if used. You could have your commune all sign up to be guards of a "private security firm" that you create. In reality it would just be setup for self defense.
Anyone who tries to loot your commune is shot dead, and then you could hide behind "well, we're a private security firm". This way your husband/wife wouldn't go to jail for shooting up a stranger who tries to rape/rob/murder you. Always look how you can use these things to your advantage.

I hear what you are saying but isnt that how we got into this mess?
"hey paw, wonder what we are gonna do with all this useless black stuff?"

The point is that these forces are in Iraq and in america, they have few boundaries and the power of police. But of course we were warned about this. Troubling reality indeed. I am going to pray to my god now that He will make this all go away ;)
It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('KhanCEO', 'W')hat? You have civil rights?

Oh yes you do. Personal injury lawyers close their eyes and dream about Rent-a-cops arresting people when they masturbate. Effecting a citizen's arrest exposes a corporation to huge financial and legal liabilities.

Successful attorneys are essentially sociopaths, but if you need one, you want to most evil, vicious, amoral one you can find. I wish a Rent-a-cop would try to physically detain me. I already have the psychological trauma and lower-back injury details ready for deposition. Cha-Ching!$!

I agree TJ. On the flip side in a post 9-11 society, I wonder if Homeland Security or sections of the PA2 will give a free pass to certain "Contractors".

I agree with you two also. Private security is a joke. Security guards have the power all right, the power to get their asses and employers asses sued off or put in jail. I know I've worked in this field for almost 7 years.
However, private security or more accurately mercenaries hired by the federal government are even more obove the law than LEOs.

I have faith that in America the good/best citizens would begin shooting mercenaries with great enthusiasm and regularity if the mercenaries became toooo cheeky. I know I would.

I worry more that Federal, State, and Local governments would begin handing out peace officer licenses to every malcontented army reject they could scrape up. Rural sherriff's deputies and small-town municipal cops have occasionally beaten the crap out of me for "fun" and stolen my stuff. Federal, State, and Mid-size municipal LEO's have always been professional with me.

I believe cops should be paid well and held to extremely high standards. I believe the Sud-American way of letting cops "pay themselves" is very detrimental to freedom and civility. We should eliminate these types of socialist rackets whenever possible, and prevent new ones from developing.

Well, we all know what happened with the last large power to use mercenary armies (Rome). The money ran out (or became worthless).
It'll happen to the US, too, it's just a matter of when it does. People can try to build up walls around themselves, but eventually, everything is exposed to the light for what it is, even if it's in a book centuries later.

I have a hard time trying to see how anyone could see this as "jihad".

This is madness. The next logical step will be for a Jew to seek employment at a barbeque shack and then demand that all the meals be kosher.

Imagine if you would a Mennonite child putting in an application in at an Abercrombie store. Then imagine the management telling the little girl that they were sorry but the Little House on the Prairie look was not the image they had spent millions to create. Then imagine the courts stepping in and telling Abercrombie that they must accommodate this child for religious reasons.

The bottom line, the image the store has created for itself, the millions it has spent on advertisement, that all counts for nothing. All that matters is the accommodation of this child’s peculiar faith.

The first amendment guarantees the free exercise of religion and prevents the establishment of a state religion. It does not guarantee that you can exercise your religion on somebody else’s private property to their detriment.

Jihad is the struggle is it not? What has been won here is a concession. This is one small concession of many small concessions that will end in the balkanization of this country.
