$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PolestaR', ' ')Or maybe it's just because we have no where else to vent and who else will listen to our diatribes?
I think it's mainly that, PolestaR.
People who think as we tend to do---unconventionally, out of the mainstream---are for the most part terribly isolated.
In my own case, my opinions and beliefs are diametrically opposite those of the society around me. I'm anti-organized religion, anti-technology, anti-economic growth, anti-nationalism, anti-car . . . it's tough at times.
The discovery of, and interaction with, like-minded souls can be exciting, energizing, and somehow comforting.
What's more, you can learn a hell of a lot, as I know I have in my 2+ years here. It's wonderful being able to both offer and receive good, specific information on subjects from apple growing to you-name-it. So many smart, knowledgeable people here, as one might expect on so forward-looking a web site.
But if talking online becomes an end in itself, then I think there's a problem, and perhaps even an addiction.
