$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gego', '
')The difference between you and I is that you want to increase the government control and I want to eliminate it.
Wrong.
My point is that I agree with Joe about how honest people are being screwed over in our current system by the insatiably greedy. The latter run the show and have created the rules by which we all must lead our lives.
I'm not advocating any particular solution at this point. What I am doing is pointing out the need for the average person to wake the f**k up to what's happening to them. Big business is not your friend.
Let me give you just one example. I participate on a number of forums, and am absolutely appalled by the popular view that big business is
never responsible for anything. I recently engaged in a debate on the obesity epidemic sweeping across America. I pointed out that the obesity epidemic started a few years after companies like MacDonalds appeared and that, therefore, MacDonald's should contribute to state health care costs. The response was "It's the fatties fault for eating that crap. Nobody is forcing them to." Well maybe no one is "forcing" them technically, but Americans are being carpet-bombed with advertising telling them to go have a Happy Meal.
If you don't believe that advertising works, you have to ask why companies like MacDonalds spend tens of millions on it every year.
We have a country which has been hijacked by big business. The only way to recover it is to first wake up like Joe tries to get us to do.
I don't know if any particular system is the solution.
It's more important for citizens to start proactively looking out for numero uno.
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.
