Did anyone notice this?

Specifically, given that so much of the US and world economies is riding up and down confidence bubbles at the moment, how much of an effect is a traditional bad luck day going to have?

Ever heard people say they don't believe in charting, but because some players watch the charts, you've got to know charts to have the best chance of investment success?

Hang on to your hats. Maybe no-one get's any funny ideas.... but you never know.

And now - oh well - why even suggest that there is a connection between the rape of the earth and just old fashion rape. Surely, though, we can agree that the NJ governor's predicament is just par for the course.

Remember - I was born in Ohio - and all my kinfolk moved to Texas and became texans.....

Adventures in Bizarro World- Friday the 13th (almost)!

I was at the store earlier today picking up some items for the next few days. I went to pick up some pine nuts (my favorite snack) in the dried fruit section, and there was as much dried fruit as there usually is. Then, when I went to the dairy case, almost all the milk was gone. Apparently clueless people are trying to stock up for Charley by buying the most perishable commodity in the store  Recent transplants from the north, maybe?

Tropical storm: Don't get your hopes up kids; school is in session.
Category 1: Secure the porch furniture and go see a movie or two.
Category 2: Sit on your couch with a box of Oreos and watch TV all day.
Category 3: Board up your windows and stay glued to the Weather Channel.
Category 4: Grab your kids and valuables, and GET OUT!
Category 5: "What do you mean you haven't evacuated yet? Okay, repeat after me: Ashhadu ana la illaha ill' Allah..."

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')pparently clueless people are trying to stock up for Charley by buying the most perishable commodity in the store

No, that's what you always do when a storm approaches. Rush to the store to buy milk, bread, and batteries. Oh, and maybe bottled water.

The reason you buy perishables is because those are things you don't already have stocked up at home. Most people have boxes of cereal, bags of flour, sugar, rice, beans, canned goods in their pantries. Bought on sale, or just because it's more convenient to buy several at a time, while you're thinking about it. Similarly, the freezer is usually full of frozen chicken, beef, hamburger, butter, etc. The only things you need to shop for are the perishables.

Maybe I'm just slow, but it still doesn't make much sense to me. If the power goes out for an extended period of time, all that milk you've just bought will go bad. Bread and batteries- I can see that. But milk?

Milk's cheap. If it goes bad, no big loss.

The fridge will stay cold for quite awhile if you're judicious about opening the door. During the big blackout of 2003, my power was out for seven hours, but all my food stayed frozen, and my milk and soda stayed cold. Even though the temperature in my apartment was 100F or more, and I did open the door now and then, to make dinner and grab some cold drinks.

I think what people are trying to avoid by rushing to the store is having to go out shopping in bad weather. Or worse, wanting to buy something but finding the stores all closed.

Not just any Friday 13th

Friday the 13th

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')ext week it will be Friday the 13th again. But this time it won’t be just ANY such date, this will be the actual anniversary of the original day.

Friday, the 13th of October, 1307 - was the date on which the Templar Order was routed in France, its members arrested and later executed. According to many researchers, that is what led to this date conjunction to be considered unlucky (or horrible.)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '"')when the new calendar was put in use, the error accumulated in the 13 centuries since the Council of Nicaea was corrected by a deletion of ten days. The last day of the Julian calendar was Thursday 4 October 1582 and this was followed by the first day of the Gregorian calendar, Friday 15 October 1582."

As we can see, at a certain point those "critical days in October" suddenly went missing, they were skipped over... If that hadn’t happened, the 699th anniversary of the Templar demise would not have fallen on Friday the 13th. Coincidence or Design?
Let us make him who shall nourish and sustain us. What shall we do to be invoked; to be remembered in the earth.
We have tried with our first creatures but we could not make them venerate us.
So let us try to make obedient respectful beings who shall

These 10 days were added because of a desynchronisation of the calendar with the solar year.

So if this is a conspiracy it has to involve God at least..

Anomally might be a more appropriate term to use I would think.
It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.

...it depends on your local hour, I guess this hour is normalized to an arbitrary location.

edit
actually, we all joined at 7:00 am... so it must be a default (better not put any hour).
