I enjoy the perspective this poll provides yet I think there are so many factors to consider that a series of books and videos may be needed to fully understand and explain "why".
My "education" is on the low end of this "spectrum" as I think I have 65 credit hours under my belt but would have to check
I could have earned a very acredited free degree online in my spare time but passed as the curriculum was limited and I worked 10 hours a day any damn ways!!
I would like to ask "how long did it take everyone here to understand and become convinced of peak oil?"
Things occured in rapid succession for me - few baby steps required and even those were simple math errors barrels, gallons, millions, billions, ton, tonne etc etc.
Funny as math was always my forte
I would like to go a step further and ask "how many of you went straight from denial to doomer?"
That is the pattern that I see.
Full tilt from one side to the other within the blink of an eye.
It equates well with the neocon "we gotta do something!!! everything in our power!! the USA is going to shit!" myth - - - total doomers messing things up more then trying to fix anything - cant be fixed right?
ya feelin me?anyone? class?
I do not think we can discount any of our experiences.
Some children as well as adults may be "drained" by TV yet look at how profoundly Video can effect people and dare I say "educate" people.
The media of TV/video/film has often times been used to sell, spread propaganda or otherwise manipulate and perhaps even dumb us down yet I dont think we needed much help there;-)
The internet: Without video/tv/film I would not feel as I do about global warming, 9/11 or even PO yet it was the internet that brung it all together.
Take the internet away and I am just one of the herd.
bahhhh rage against the machine bahhhhahh system of a down bahahahah
I listened, watched, read and otherwise sank myself into the subject matter and that my friends IS higher education!
You cant buy it because the shit is priceless!!!
Lets see here...... what president pushed hard to get computers and cable in the classroom? ahhh yes... real power to the people!
No teachers - all students.
I want to thank the Professors of Peak Oil for being brave enough and caring enough to present the subject matter...thank you!!
I want to thank all of the conductive members of PO.com for making this moment possible...thank you!!

grabs his Peak Oil degree and then moons the crowd while yelling "peak oil bitches!!!">

It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.
