The Perfect Snack

What is the world's most perfect snack?

Personally, I believe the world's most perfect snack is the grilled cheese sandwich. The snack becomes substantially more perfect if one includes numerous slices of Canadian bacon inside the melted-pastaurized-cheese-product center.

Anyone else have a favorite snacks they wish to share with the rest of us?

I figured with oil prices down below $65, we can talk about snacks and movies and celebrities and sports and palm oil and...

That sounds yummy. I'm with you on that. But i'm wondering, maybe roasted earthworms with dandelions aren't half bad. I'll bet it's tasty, specially if that's all you've got to eat. But in the meanwhile, bon appetit! I like chocolate. Clam chowder is a treat too. I got four giant restaraunt-sized containers of clams when the restaraunt closed. :x I will be cooking up some clam recipes for a while.

Depends on the snack wanted at the time, whether something sweet, salty, or meat is desired.

If something sweet is desired, a Berry Liquor freeze is the ticket. Get ~16 oz of Edys Berry Rainbow sherbet, about 1/2 oz of blueberries, 1/2 oz of raspberries, 1/2 oz of blackberries, 4 oz of some Libbys Juicy Juice berry flavored, 8 oz of ice, and 4 oz of Raspberry Vodka(at least 70 proof). Take the ice, put it in a blender, and chop it until it's like a dust. Then pour in the berries first and blend, ice cream second and blend, and everything else after. Blend until smooth. Shake the blender's container around if needed. If the consistency is too liquidy, freeze for 15 minutes and stir afterwards.

If you've just smoked an 1/8th oz of pot and want something salty to kill the munchies, some homeade frenchfries, lots of salt, and a good ketchup are the ticket. Cheap, greasy, fattening, salty, and satisfying.

Meat? Canned crab meat cooked with shallots and doused in olive oil, fried bacon, wafer sliced peppered turkey-breast, alfalfa sprouts, red onion, on toasted wheatberry bread with mayonaise.

If you are frugal on purchasing the ingredients or get them on sale, these snacks can all be made for cheap. Otherwise, don't bother for the meat, as it can get expensive if the ingredients aren't purchased on sale. The freeze can be made for about $2-3 each for something that ends up between .75 and 1 liter in volume, less if you get the ingredients on sale.

2pts Homemade Guacamole, 1 pt Homemade Pico de Gallo, and 1 shot of Cuervo Tequila mixed together so thick that average tortilla chips break.

+1. Doesn't require cooking, comes pre-sweetened. The colorful single serving packaging is edible. Good hot, cold, or room temperature. I like mine warmed in the sun.

I second the mighty avocado. Damn I'm hooked on guacamole. I've been having it for breakfast now. With blue corn chips. That green shit is good. I've been craving it lately.

Boo's guac recipe.

One ripe avocade (must be soft and ripe)
Half a lime
Small yellow onion (about the size of a golf ball)
Cilantro (tablespoon or two freshly chopped)
Dash of pepper and cumin.
+
Blue corn chips

That's it. Do it raw. Add avocado flesh to bowl (minus seed and skin, duh), squeeze lime juice on top (about a tablespoon), dice onion and add this, plus cilantro and pepper and cumin. Mash it up with a fork. Use blue chips to eat. Yummers. Got stopping power too, wont be hungry for a while after chowing.

Other than that I like chips with fresh salsa, tea with lots of cream and sugar, fresh donuts (I think we're hitting peak donuts - the deep fried jelly filled wonders are getting expensive). Nuts are good too. I like those honey roasted peanuts, walnuts (raw - I like to crack them, that's half the fun) and sunflower seeds. I like the sunflower seeds shelled, fried and salted tho.

Gotta go, time for more guac.

Guac is always good. I second the blue corn chips too...

Nuts, good call... I like the raw filberts. I always stock up so I can sit by the wood stove in winter and crack away.
