Well, Mortifiedpenguin, are you getting the attention you craved?

Here's a thought: Ask not what the hell is wrong with everyone, but what the hell is wrong with yourself. Usually you'll find enough that needs rectifying that you can forget about everyone else.

Here's another thought: Compartmentalize. Put your rage about the world in one compartment and your personal life (and death) decisions in another. That's what I do, and it works.

No they can't. They just suck up most of the nutrients in the agar and pollute the rest with their metabolic wastes. The petridish 'lives' on. Humans have no capacity to destroy the planet, we are just changing the biosphere into something that threatens our species' (and many others') existance.

I look at your hopelessness and see that it stems from your misunderstanding of who we are.

Here's the Biblical persepective.

We didn't evolve from apes. In fact that very premise is Satan's way of promoting even more pain and death. Why should anyone care about being accountable for their actions if they're told there is no God?

Our true God and Creator created us perfect, in the image of God, but because we disobeyed Him and sin was brought into this world, we also have the consequences that come with it - death, pain, suffering, war, murder, hatred, greed, lust, disease, turmoil etc etc.

This world is a mess because of sin, our seperation from our Holy Creator, and being under God's Wrath.

Thankfully He's made the provision to forgive us through Jesus Christ taking our punishment on Himself.

The test in my signature shows us exactly why this world is in the state its in.

ID is an imponderable. It cannot be proven one way or the other. As such, it seems a useless speculation.

But the issue is deeper than just people. Conflict and the will to power seems to be in pretty much all animals. Even a herd of cattle has a dominant cow. Plants, given the chance, will strangle out competitors.

Things that don't try to suppress all other competitors don't reproduce. They die out, suppressed by other species, or other instances of their own species. So we need not resort to design; evolution would do fine.

Same conclusion - it's a fundamental part of life.

I just read a nice short piece by Vonnegut, lauding Susan Sontag for her insight on the human condition, which might be satisfactory to your queries: "She was asked what she had learned from the Holocaust, and she said that 10 percent of any population is cruel, no matter what, and that 10 percent is merciful, no matter what, and that the remaining 80 percent could be moved in either direction."

You just have to ask yourself which bracket you fit into, and go with it.

I don't know if mortifiedpenguin is for real or not, but I think somebody should try to find out. Is there anybody out there who knows enough about him to start enquiries? The moderators?

And I won't appreciate replies from idiots saying it'll improve their chances in the die-off.

Actually, Christ sets us free from being enslaved. Remember that when you stand before God and He asks you why you rejected His free gift of Salvation.

This is Him warning you about the consequences of dying in sin.

For the original poster, if you are still reading this thread, there is no need to dispair. There is a great Hope and He doesn't turn anyone away no matter what they've done.

The human experience is much the same over the countless generations. The nature of sin is the same underneath, only the way it is demonstrated changes under new circumstances. The "big 7" sins are just as real today, impact us just as much, as when Christ walked the streets of Nazareth and Jerusalem. Thus, likewise the remedy. Its a sign of our misplaced pride, not our wisdom, that we think things are so much different in our world of today.
