$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WisJim', 'U')pland rice varieties don't require flooding that "regular" rice varieties need, so there is potential using upland varieties in climates where flooding isn't possible. However, I know of a couple experienced gardeners in the upper midwest (WIs, Minn, Iowa, etc) who have tried growing it and have decided it isn't worth the effort, and that growing barley, wheat, or oats makes more sense in this part of the world.
how did your experiment with wild rice go?
ive cant find it right now but i read (maybe here) that someone collected a bunch of wild rice that they had seeded.
