You must have arrangements though, right? How can you spend so much time on doomer sites and NOT? To be aware and not prepare would be.....extremely stressful, I would think.

You know I would have learned Spanish but I'm deaf and figured it was hard enough for me to have learned English. I've never really excelled at English except in the realm of reading books. That was my salvation. Believe me, I've read them, with joy.

Someday you gotta find another way, you better right your mind
and live by what you say
Today is just another day unless you set your sights and try to find a way
I say fuck authority
Silent majority
Raised by the system
Now it's time to rise against them
We're sick of your treason
Sick of your lies
Fuck no, we won't listen
We're gonna open your eyes
Frustration, domination, feel the rage of a new generation,
we're livin', we're dyin' and we're never gonna stop, stop tryin'
Stop tryin'
Stop tryin', stop tryin'

You know the time is right to take control,
we gotta take offense against the status quo
No way, not gonna stand for it today, fight for your rights,
it's time we had our say

I say fuck authority
Silent majority
Raised by the system
Now it's time to rise against them
We're sick of your treason
Sick of your lies
Fuck no, we won't listen
We're gonna open your eyes
Frustration, domination, feel the rage of a new generation,
We're livin', we're dyin', we're sick and tired of the endless liein' Destroy,
Enjoy, your fucking world is our new toy, dominate, eliminate,
Your gonna feel the wrath, wrath of hate?

Fuck authority
Silent majority
Raised by the system
Now it's time to rise against them
We're sick of your treason
Sick of your lies
Fuck no, we won't listen
We're gonna open your eyes
Frustration, domination, feel the rage of a new generation,

Holmes,

Thanks for the word from the wise.

Lets have another.....

Look all around you there's a war that's going on
A struggle against the odds thats's breaking out and must be won
They're getting ready with the weapons they have found
Take inspiration from the sound
See it in the faces of the people everyday
We need to take control and find some ammo right away
our cause is righteous and we're gonna have our say
Get ready for the judgment day
Go ahead and try
Or kiss your ass good-bye
People of society are running for their lives
Get up now and go
Or your never gonna know
Never gonna make it in your houses lying low
Give it one good try
Give it all and fight till you die
A Puppet government
Their dying in the streets
Families are breaking up cause underpaids can't make ends meat
The establishment has put their money underground
Cause they all know what's coming down
A lucky precious with money in their banks
Can't imagine what it's like to find yourself in homeless ranks
They've got no conscience for the ones who won't survive
The time for payback has arived
All alone in your own society outside are the cries of lives in misery
an evil plot of a false democracy subjugating souls just dying to be free
smoke 2 joints in the mornin'/smoke 2 joints at night
smoke 2 joints in the afternoon it makes me feel alright
I smoke 2 joints in time of peace and 2 in time of war
I smoke 2 joints before I smoke 2 joints and then I smoke 2 more - sublime

The situation sucks for the poor owner of this once thriving restaurant. He lives 60 miles away, revenue is falling, he can't refi his house for 3 years, the June rent hasn't been paid for the space, and they used their savings to buy the place. He regrets buying the place, of course, but it was doing fine then. The food is better now and the place is run more carefully now than under the old ownership, but what can you do? The economic implosion that Monte spoke of is underway it looks like.

Yes the situation basically sucks for everyone involved. Even the ones who think they're doing well just have a little further to fall than the rest of us when the time comes.

As for the economic implosion, if you look hard enough that began sometime during or prior to the 1970's. The momentums just built up enough now that we're starting to notice.

It's kind of funny because most of the people who grew up around that time can't understand why it's so hard for young people to get by these days. My parents used to give me this one: "When I was 17 I moved out on my own and never had to borrow money from my parents and I could afford to raise you guys so why are you having so much trouble? You just need to work harder! Lazy punk, it's clearly the music you listen to." The answer (which they are starting to catch onto) is that in 1977 they made the same wage that I make now but everything cost 1/10th the price, it doesn't take a mathematician to figure out these numbers.

Peace

P.S. sorry to hear about the restaurant, it's a bad scene. Clearly the previous owners sensed the sinking ship. Too bad the new guy couldn't smell the rat.

Thanks, I like the place. I started working there ten years ago when I decided I didn't want to teach summer school any more which I'd done for a few years. The old owner has about 6 restaurants, several of which are losing money. He is also the guarantor of the bank loan to the new owner. So I don't think it was any sort of bad faith because if the new guy goes under the old guy owes 100 grand to the bank. BTW, I worked in Oil Field services back in the 80s. I ran pressure operated firing heads for drill stem tests. Maybe I should go up to Alaska!

The June rent was paid. We have another month. The cook who helped so much with his knowledge may have jumped ship. It means more hours for me and more money. I sure need it for the summer dry months. Summer is not a good time for Italian Restaurants. People want Italian food in the cold months. The owner's wife has gone back to work in child care and now the valued cook may be leaving which will mean the owner has to do more of the cooking himself. I have always accepted changing circumstances and it looks like once again, when I needed extra income it will be forthcoming. Never say Die.

You need a new niche for the restaurant.. is there much local employment that might buy catering during the day? I can't wait for the first dieoff themed restaurant, first course: Fresh Russian caviar. 2nd: Undersized cod. Mains: BSE infected beef render pie, share between sixteen. Desert: nostalgia.
