I would like to start compiling a list of well known influential people who have acknowledged the reality of peak oil and the likelyhood it is near, as well as peak oil quotes attributed to them. The reason for this is that it is easier to convince someone if you can quote someone they know and respect with similar political leanings. For Instance, quoting Clinton or Gore here in Utah is about useless but being able to quote our senior republican senator Orrin Hatch on peak oil makes an impression.

Ed Rendell, governor of Pennsylvania. I'm not sure if he's verbally acknowledged peak oil, but his policies seem to indicate that he has. He has jump started the coal to liquids project in Gilberton by promising to power all State diesel vehicles with the output and he was influential in starting 10 new biofuel plants across the State. I've met this man, along with John Street, Mayor of Philadelphia, and I believe in him and would like to see him run for president.

Biggus Dickus simply stated the decline and necessary replacement figures. To my knowledge, he never actually publicly voiced the logical conclusion that we really don't have a chance in hell of actually achieving those replacement barrels.
