$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'd')oes this mean a delay for the crash?
45% drop in SUV's is no small fry.
Not at all. Let's say they sold about 1.5 million SUV's last year. Now they only sell 750,000 (let's round off), so that's 750,000 less SUV's. If these vehicles would have driven the average 12,000 miles each year and had gotten an average of 12 mpg, then that's a savings of 750 million gallons of gasoline. 750 million gallons equates to 17.8 million barrels of oil or 425,000 barrels per day. A drop in the bucket. That's what the increase in oil demand in China alone will be in a single year.
And let's not forget that those people who didn't buy SUV's probably did buy other vehicles. Also, the average SUV probably gets a little bit more than 12 mpg. Not to mention I rounded everything so the mpd saved would be the highest. And still, it's nothing but a drop, even less than ANWR. Hell, Cantarell is going to drop that much in 2 years if it takes that long.
I say it delays peak by about how long it took me to write this.
I want to put out the fires of Hell, and burn down the rewards of Paradise. They block the way to God. I do not want to worship from fear of punishment or for the promise of reward, but simply for the love of God. - Rabia
