Open Letter To Schweinsax

I'm sure many would agree with me that you are the funniest poster to this forum. I dabble in humor, too, but you are the master. I try to post doomer stuff, too, but Jack is the master. But here's what I want to talk about: what is the role of humor in peakoil? Can we laugh at such an issue? I saw that even Montequest tried his hand at humor, before wisely deciding to give it up. Humor is a state of mind which is jealous of other states of mind. It's hard to crack jokes after you've so stridently argued overshoot. But overshoot is real. I have no doubts about it. My attitude is that we are soon to be in real anguish and nobody will be cracking jokes. So we might as well enjoy ourselves and have some fun. Life is to be lived, and there is nothing wrong with relating to "strangers" on the internet as one way to do it. I put strangers in quotes because I feel that I know many of you, sort of. But nobody in the regular world is up to speed on this, so where else can you express your attitude to the life-changing situation we are in than here? (BTW, this open forum seems slow as hell lately, nothing much is going on)

Why the MREA of course.

Other thread on this topic.

That's where you can meet up to talk about this kind of thing. But on that topic PMS, I must say you and Schweinsax keep me laughing long into the night. I think my wife thinks I'm going insane from all this peakoil reading, but really the manic giggling is from the insane versions of the world you guys come up with. Funny as hell. I always wondered if you had a serious bone in your body. Good to know your not all funny.

Absolutely. That's what I thought when I got up this morning and saw all the drivel.

Well, I tried entertaining people with the link to the Doomer's Dreamhouse, but nobody seemed interested in that.

I just want to add that Schweinshaxe's posts almost always make me laugh out loud too.

(Is there a reason you mispelled his name, by the way?)

yes, there is. Usually people call him "schwein", a practice begun by me because "schweinshaxe" is so imponderable and it is tiring to be always going back to look it up in order to spell it right. So, somebody tried to post his full name the other day and it came out "schwienshaxe" which made me laugh. I got the idea of coming up with lots of other humorous mispellings. It's all friendly, of course. I like steinflax, he's like a son to me.

He's even more likable since he got rid of that spooky Godel avatar. :P

Well, if you want to know the secret of Schwein...

I started to visit PO.com about a year ago to read in the Current Events about PO which I had rediscovered again after dismissing it earlier. Then after Katrina in NOLA I was kind of stuck here. I remember being filled with horror as the events in NOLA were reported live post by post in that forum. I was maybe a little half-doomerish back then to be honest...

Then this weird fella PMS started to stalk me...

We were chasing the same PO-chick back then. SBC isn't posting much anymore though. I think that could have something to do with the fact that we have now learned that PMS is my father. I'm a bit disappointed though that I couldn't have the car last weekend...

It has been an interesting year with many twists and turns and I hope it continues like that for many years to come. I have met a lot of interesting people here and learned a lot about PO. Unless we meet fighting zombie vs. zombie over a can of beans in the future, I might even buy you a beer or two.

Cheers!

As I understood it the secret to Schweins humor is that he suffers from a total inability to grasp... what was it Schwein? Sarcasm?

Keep on keeping on my freind! I love the deadpan delivery! How the heck you can get that across on a text forum is sheer genius!

I changed my mind. Slimechucks isn't the funniest, the Relic from Atlantis is hitting all kinds of humor bombs lately. But I ask you all again, is humor the right response to this scary issue? I don't know.

Schwein...this may be hard for you to take but you must know the truth.

Thank God! I have a family again!

Since I was rejected by P-man in that doomsday device thread, I've been wandering around like Raskolnikov in the streets. Unable to eat. Unable to sleep. Not even the pictures of Karl Rove which I keep under my bed could give me any comfort anymore.

I'm now however a stronger Schwein than I used to be. I have realised that middle class, quasi-intellectual, ex-hippie doomers are not to be trusted.

Take me in your arms mommy! I want to be breast-fed!

BTW, can you lend me 1000 bucks? You'll get it back next week.

First my son, you must avoid Karl Rove. It's not common knowledge, but barnyard animals and Karl Rove do not mix. He is not worth of worship for his crimes against beasts. Second, never strive to be a quasi-intellectual or you loose your place in the soup line. Third I put a check for 1000 dollars in the mail along with solar oven, your liberty pistol and a box full of homemade cookies.
Finally when TSHF in Europe remember:

"Four legs good! Two Legs Bad" -George Orwell

BTW-I stole that from a old SCTV skit on The Empire Strikes Back. Luke is asking Obi Wan why he never told him Darth Vader was his father. Goes like this:

Luke:Why Ben? Why didn't you tell me Vader was my father?
Ben:Luke!
Luke: What?
Ben Have you ever wondered why I never told you about your Mother?
Luke: Well yeah,
Ben: Luke, I am your mother.

Well, mom, I think I've found you a partner:

Robotic Mule

The guy in the red jacket and the gay-ass sunglasses must be Karl Rove.

Thanks for the money and stuff! You'll probably get it back next month.

Oh that mule gives me the creeps. Did you see those quasi intellectuals kick the mule? Very disturbing, God knows he wouldn't dare kick a live mule like that.
