You and your metric!

I do know that a 6USD Burger King meal is good for about 40 miles.

Which also buys 2 gallons of fuel, which takes the Durango 20 in town, or 30 highway, or the Corolla 40 in town and almost 60 on the highway.

Funny how markets work. Burger King gets me as far as gasoline, but without the capitol investment of an expensive vehicle.

?

It's a 5.9 v8. but before the hemi marketing push. So i think its a "Magnum." Not that I know how that's different than any other v8.

that 20 miles is 2 gals worth of in town driving. 8O

Oh, crap, I was thinking "1 gallon" even though you said 2 gallons.

Gold is taking a beating today. Down over sixty bucks from its most recent high.

A friend of mine just made a vehicle that is perfect for in-town driving that should get infinity miles per gallon. It's a solar car that recharges as it's parked. Why we don't have this as an option it beyond me. A plug in hybrid with solar panels built into the roof would be an awesome thing. It uses all off the shelf technology. Why doesn't it exist?

I don't think people include the cost of maintenance and the energy costs of the car when they calculate miles per gallon. Infinity miles per gallon is possible with a solar car. The cost of the batteries is the reason that most hybrids aren't as much of a deal as they seem to be just from their mpg. Still, that doesn't have anything to do with miles per gallon.

Because if you make some small calculations, you'd see it takes like a WEEK to recharge batteries for a 10 km ride :P

Even a low-weight/high-aerodynamics car like the Loremo would need a couple of days to recharge fr oma small downtown trip.

The reason is the cost of the batteries and photovoltaics. If 300 million americans and 1 billion chindians, and everyone in europe wanted these batteries there would not be enough to go around and the prices would skyrocket faster than oil.

There is not enough Nickle on the planet to make batteries for 100 million electric cars let alone a billion cars. The price of Nickle has doubled in the last year making the Nickle coin worth more as scrape metal then as a five cent coin.

This is awsome! I love it. It exposes the fiat central banking rip-off money for the joke that it is! I should start buying change with my entire paychecks. I wonder what they will do when everyone starts doing this? Make them out of zinc like pennies? what will they do when the same thing happens to the price of Zinc? FINALLY ban change? I have a part time job in armored transport and waste an ENORMOUS amount of energy shipping change. Sorry folks I have to make ends meet. perhaps if there were better jobs when i graduated from college i wouldnt be wasting so much energy paying college debt.

Too late as I heard it pennies alread contain 1.4 cents worth of copper and zinc. I say go back to the good old days and make coins out of real metal, copper pennies and nickle nickles and silver dimes and quarters make it much harder for money to inflate because it has a certain minimum value.

The last year of issue for bronze pennies was 1982, all the pennies issued by the US Mint in 1983 and beyond are zinc with a very thin coating of copper electroplate.

Yes, forgot to add that disclaimer...know all about the Cu/Zn 59-62, and the Cu/Zn/Tin (bronze) before that

see this for an accurate computation of the current metal price values of circulating US coins:

New Solution to Gas Chugging SUVs- Arson

Postby Liatris » Sun 11 Jun 2006, 21:25:33

Article on cnn.com describes debt-strapped California SUV owners resorting to arson to get out of ballooning car costs.
Torch My Ride: Arson for Hire: Debt-weary SUV owners unload their gas-guzzlers on insurance companies
"At one point, firefighters responding to a report of a vehicle fire arrived at the Los Angeles River Bed to find two SUVs burning at the same time." Previously, this would have been blamed on ELF activists, now the car owners are arranging the arson themselves.

I wonder what happens to the people who torch their cars and are nailed with insurance fraud? Now they have to pay for a vehicle they could not afford and no longer have, they have to pay for another vehicle if they still want to get around.

I suspect they'll also have a felony on their records. Not a good move, IMO.
