$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')ho knows, maybe tomorrow, a scientist will figure out nuclear fusion, or a bunch of drillers will discover a new source of energy, like Metatron from that Zone Of The Enders game.

They're a bunch of Chicken Littles,

hiding out in Himmler's old chicken coop in Bavaria,

yes, that's why The Muppet Show took the word 'Gonzo' out of 'Gonzo journalism' and made it into a character that kept chickens who some of them said was weird

-

the Swedish chef is based on a Swedish bloke that Himmler seemed to trust during WW2 with information about nazi oil and other fuel reserves, who turned out to be a liar or double-agent of some kind that f*cked them right up.

I knew about that stuff before anyone even told me about WW2-anything, plus first time I saw Orthodox Jews at an airport I thought 'well at least they didn't all get killed' when I was about five years old.

Actually, what I see on this site IS mostly solutions.

For some the solution is a new technology, for some it is another AK, for others its conservation, and for still others its greater independence. I think the solutions are as varied as the experiences of the people who propose them.

There are really few here that hope to roll over and die at the first sign of lines at the gas station.

BTW, most, if not all of the links bart posted have all been on our web links page for months (although we may have lost some in the move, I’ll check).

Who is the bigger fool; the person who boards the windows in advance of the hurricane or the one who does nothing and believes the storm will miss him because it always has in the past?
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

Well thankyou for ignoring the 100th Monkey theory once again.

Or is it the 100th Monkey Factoid now?

Good thing we're keeping the majority of us 'lizard-monkeys' as stupid and unable to cope with 'thought=reality' as possible, can't have them all suddenly becoming free again and using that LERM ( for definition of LERM see wingmakers, or read Credo Mutwa interviews that explain what happened to people's natural God-given abilites ).

Uh, and btw - here in the UK they already tried that fake fuel crisis a coupla years ago at the pumps. The supermarkets and shops were empty within about two days of news reports saying there were fuel shortages.

Reeeeaaly evolved people.

Pops - We need to identify a third and IMO still larger class of fool on this website.

Thats the one that sees the storm coming and revels in apathy to the point of not bothering to advance solutions, but fritters his time away in the trivia of criticizing others' efforts.

From this perspective, DENIAL has two wings:

one is complacency;

the other is defeatism.

I guess we'd agree that they're equally stupid.

That better not be about me,

I've been doing nothing but making an effort in my personal life for many years to assist in any ecological solutions

( and I never bothered trying to force issues such as CSETI ( I was a member back in '97 when I first got the chance to do some organic horticulture ) and how I knew for a fact my whole life I was re-incarnated and had seen the choices made to force the world to this type of situation ; now that I see the amount of effort put into denying and interfering with renewables - there is no choice put to pull out all the stops and bring the 'reality shattering' truths out, regardless of weak minds that never made the effort to spiritually evolve enough so they would already know those truths. )

I am also the least-defeatist too,

so you better be clear if you were refering to me.

I've brought loads of good news to here, and it all works.

I only attack the evil and the liars - the ones who respond to the truth with lies.

What I wrote there about the scum hoarder types is a fact, it happened.

Don't even think of using that to try and paint me with some bunch of lies like that reply sounded like you were trying hard to do.

I guess that'd be me, except for the fact that I just plain fritter my time away. I criticize some efforts, but wouldn't criticize someone for making the effort.

Where is my crown?

JRob - A clarification is needed -

Constructive criticism is essential and to me very welcome.

The sort that is simply to dismiss opportunities as being merely false hope is what I abhor. It is notable in coming from those who can't put up useful suggestions themselves.

So no crown for you then.

I guess you are right. I am more along the lines of a.... lazy bastard.

But seriously, if this site were all "doomsayers", I probably wouldn't visit this site so often. I probably wouldn't believe in the peak theory. Shit, I sure as hell don't know how to caculate world oil production myself. When came here, I thought I would find a bunch of mini-Savinars. I didn't. It was rather joyous, because I realized that we don't have to live in absolute peril. Yet, at the same time, a bit disappointing. Most of the people here are too intelligent for this to be a non-issue.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'A')ctually, what I see on this site IS mostly solutions.

I agree with Pops.

Mortifiedpenguin, what you hear is doom and gloom because you are used to hearing Mommy and Daddy tell you that everything is alright. When they aren't there, you have the other big mommy and daddy which is the Federal government telling you the same thing. You've always heard problem and then solution, in that order so you don't fret too much. The problem with PeakOil is that there is no single plan B.

I suggest that you read Matt Simmons views on the subject. He's an upbeat guy that has researched Peak Oil to death and is still fervently looking for solutions. There are plenty of good articles on this and other sites.

In other words, grow up.

Duff Beer - your paranoia is showing in your last post - mine was nothing to do with you.

The reason that this is only my second response to your 200-odd posts is that I've yet to see a useful suggestion in them. They appear to be simply an AGM (Attention Getting Mechanism) rather than anything useful as you seem to believe that passion is a sufficient substitute for serious study of the subject.

.......and then you provide no proof.

What was your post about then,

and why wait to reply right after mine if it was indeed - as you seem to be claiming - directed towards someone else's post.

Go, prove it -

who wrote what in this thread that prompted you to post that.

You as well as others like you who love bandying about the 'paranoia' label onto anyone that has anything half-decent to say, fail always to know how to use the word. It is you who are the paranoids. You seem to exist to be oppossed to something, therefore you paranoicly adhere to all that it stands to bring forth and attempt always to stop it or refute it.

That's paranoia. My life for example is, in no reference to any opposition to truth. You sound like you have to define yourself as against what you do not want to be, or - worse! - what you do not want to be seen as in the eyes of other people.

Just look at the standardised mind-control words you chose to respond to me with, as well as the fake-propaganda standard of not actually answering the post ; who trained you?
Or what trained you maybe.......

''attention getting'' - ooooh we haven't heard that lie from any Chicken Little's ever have we.

You have no attention to get.

From now on people, you're only allowed to post topics and replies and public forums that do their best to attract as little readership as they possibly can, otherwise you'll be labelled a 'look at me!' by the thought-police.

problems and solutions

From what you've revealed of your history, Pops, I think that you are way ahead of the rest of us in accepting Peak Oil and responding in a productive way.

Sometimes it's best NOT to jump right into solutions, and that's why I think the free-form debate and emoting on the board is necessary now. It's still early in the process. Before we can really get behind solutions, we need to figure out what the problems are. We need to throw out crazy ideas and see what they look like. Be angry and regretful and gloomy and hopeful.

It's as if we are waking up from a dream.

Eventually, one gets tired of debating the basics and finds that it is time to move on. Then one can join with people of like mind and start working on solutions.
