The torrent (linked upthread) is an AVI file. You will need a program such as BitTorrent or Shareza to download it.

Someone who has downloaded it could probably strip the audio track from it and turn it into an MP3 file, but I don't think anyone has done it yet.

In my Road and Track this month, they had an article driving a Ferrari Enzo across the silk road to China, and all its adventures, passing trucks and oxen and people.

Most did not know what it was.
Some had never seen a sports car.

most of the road was logging truck quality.

at one village a chinese peasant , Rich cause he owned two caows, said.

"I am not worried much, I have belief and faith that soon I will be able to afford an automobile to do all my business in.

Made by the Swedish state television. 30 minutes long and it delivered 1000 times more information than the sucky CNN infotainment.

I second this one. Watched MOI's alternate recommendation last night and it is an excellent piece of work. Get it now while the torrent's active, it's fast. Took only a bit over 2 hours for an 872 Meg file...

(Oh, and please leave it seeding at least for awhile after it completes. That's what helps it propagate quickly!)

I downloaded it and watched it, it leqans toward the democratic viewpoint but discusses mostly a large out-of-control military complex that has to keep warring.

But in proclaiming anti-wr thoughts they actually put forth this horrid thought:

We, the people, only allow the war because the poor people are dying, as soon as we put in the draft then americans will force the war to stop.

This is a horrid thought. It is very racists and class biased, assuming low class citiczens are worthless, This I did not agree with.

So their answer was to FORCE MIDDLE CLASS CHILDREN TO DIE to in some way Pay us back or make us want to stop the war.

Think about that, "Ill kill your children if you don't agrtee with me."

The people who signed up had a choice, they did not have to sign up, but they would FORCE people to get killed against their willl to stop a war.

synopsis: PUT IN THE DRAFT and kill some middle class kids so the war will stop.

this is very beastly and subtle but wrong. It is basically revenge for being poor.


Seems like everyone is a murderer for certain reasons, so now it would be ok to kill some rich kids from rich families.

It looks to me like the pacifists are no different from the warmongers, everyone hates something and will kill for some reason.
So again, Dems or Repubs, it makes no difference, theyll kill someone for the right reasons.

(killing people who don't agree with you)

But, you ask, "Hasen't the general populations ALWAYS been canon fodder?"

I mean, in the crusades, the religious CHRISTIAN ARMIES in the crusades army breached walls of Islam fortresses by sending waves of men to run up to the walls and die, then they climbed up on the dead bodies till there was a mountain of dead corpses until they could climb over the wall.

Or paid a man a gold coin if they ran up to the wall and pulled out a stone and brought it back.

They also lied and told them they would go to heaven directly without goijng through purgatory and their sins to be forgiven and their whole family to go to paradise if they died fighting for the crusades armies.
(Sound like used car salesmen)
(They weren't promised virgins though)
Both of these religions lied to the warriors to get them to die for the cause while the leutenants and generals stood in the back drinking wine until the walls were breached, WATCHING THEM DIE.

I couldn't votein 2004, couldn't find anyone worth voting for.

You know if Kerry was elected we would be over there right now, same time, same place, but probably for a different outward reason.

Clint went to Bosnia and happened to protect oil rights. amazing.

But since GW is our president elected by the people I will respect him and follow the laws of the land, as long as those laws are honorable. When they force me to kill or steal, I will just refuse to follow them I will not hurt others.

Our economy depends on stabilityof oil and whoever is in office will do what they are told they must do to save the country, look at what GW does to save the country, it is amazing.

And there is nothing you can do about peak oil either, but I think both of these issues will soon solve themselves.
So anyway, don't call me a republican. or Democrat. I am an American.

I am also an American. I fail to see, however, what G.W. Bush is doing to "save the country." From my vantage point, I can only see him (and the rest of the government, for that matter) making actions that will in fact destroy this nation.

There are allready unconstitutional powers being granted...laws being created, that are endangering our liberty. The so-called Patriot Act, for instance. Never has there been such a grievous breach of our rights as citizens of this nation. If you truly call yourself an American, you would be wise to oppose these erosions of justice that are occuring, for your own good as well as mine, and for the rest of our fellow citizens.

The issues will not solve themselves, as you say. Direct intervention on our parts is required, and that will happen, if you choose to wait until it's to late, and our freedoms are completly vanquished forever.

CNN seems to be running this piece early morning all the time.

It's on right now... same thing yesterday.

Interesting that they never say Peak Oil...

(If Matt Simmons says "basically" one more time...)

"We Were Warned" ran again tonight on CNN. I think it will air once again tomorrow also.

Was the Matt Simmons interview in "We Were Warned" the first time it ran?

This time, at any rate, CNN has spliced in portions of an interview with Matthew Simmons - which is sort of a non-sequitor since the premise of the CNN special is not Peak Oil per se but a hurricane which damages Gulf Of Mexico oil platforms and does other oil infrastructure damage on land. Al-Quaeda, also in this plotline, have been waiting all along for this particular vulnerability and strike at Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure. Some 8% of world oil is crippled and off-line.

The Simmons bits, of course, refer to world oil production peak. CNN seems to have left this vague; I can imagine the uninformed viewer not really gathering the substance of what Simmons is saying.

I wonder if they're going to run "We Were Warned" just before every hurricane season? Last year, there were no big storms. This year an active season is forecast. It has occurred to the conspiracist in me that should a hurricane again damage oil facilities in the GOM, the shadow US government will choose that time to act by destroying some oil infrastructure in SA - blaming it on Al-Quaeda. There's your good excuse to stay in Iraq!

I'm just watching it on television now.

They had just cut to commercial and said "However, there's one country that has managed to severely cut back it's need for oil imports, coming up next" and then they showed a modest city with Latin music playing.

I was hoping, praying, down on my knees in front the TV screen yelling "Please say it's Cuba, please say it's Cuba!".

But alas, it's Brazil.

However, it's not as cornucopian as I thought, and they shattered corn which is always a good thing.

I hope, once people understand the problem, like the first step of AA, I can prescribe some more realistic solutions to my peers.
