If the Judiciary Committe fails to follow up on the Gonzales questioning and persue those answers where they lead I am going to give in to my paranoid conspiracy driven worldview... If congress conceeds to the administration the ability to ignore written law, gives up it's oversight of administration activities, and punishes "whistle-blowers" and "leaks" aggressively (both media and government sources) democracy is dead....

PS- The Intelligence Committe will vote tomorrow 3/7/06 on whether it will further investigate the NSA spying issue, but as that investigation would likely be behind closed doors (if it happens at all) and will likely result in a law making the administrations actions legal retroactively I don't hold out much hope for this course of investigation... http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=1692603&page=1

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('J-Rod', 'C')alm down there, Speccy. Believe it or not, I consider myself a liberal, but one that has full support of the second. Everyone should have the right to bear arms, there's no grey interpretation of that. The founding fathers wanted people to be able to enforce their will on a government that one day might no longer serve the people. Painting anyone with a broad brush of a party, be it red or blue is part of the problem in this country. Most people have values that go across the spectrum, but when it comes time to vote you have to choose. Kind of a sad system really, it would be nicer if there just weren't parties at all, just people that stand on a platform defined by themselves, and not a party.

Your right, but historically its Democrats who ban guns. Look at the Federal gun bans, and look at states considered to be liberal...ie....Illinois (Chicago really), Kalifornia, New York, New Jersey.........

While I generally dont like broad brushes (And have said as much in the past) in this case the shoe fits. Democrats do NOT want gun in the hands of people.
Which completely baffles me. Dont the fucking Dems realize that a populations ONLY real protection from overbearing governments are firearms?! And then to add in this "Unconstitutional" stuff on top of it....
It really chaps my a**.

I won't keep my fingers crossed, but it would be good to seem him impeached. And when they read the list of charges, it won't contain ridiculous items like "blow job." There'll be real high crimes associated with his reign of terror.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eric_b', 'A') brief piece @ salon.com on impeaching Bush:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/20 ... 1/keillor/

Very true and very well said:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')hese are troubling times for all of us who love this country, as surely we all do, even the satirists. You may poke fun at your mother, but if she is belittled by others it burns your bacon. A blowhard French journalist writes a book about America that is full of arrogant stupidity, and you want to let the air out of him and mail him home flat. You hear young people talk about America as if it's all over, and you trust that this is only them talking tough. And then you read the paper and realize the country is led by a man who isn't paying attention, and you hope that somebody will poke him. Or put a sign on his desk that says, "Try Much Harder."
Do we need to impeach him to bring some focus to this man's life? The man was lost and then he was found and now he's more lost than ever, plus being blind.

Don't forget that throwing Bush out would leave Cheney in charge.

Talk is cheap....

I won't get excited until articles of impeachment are written up and passed by The House.

Anything else is just wishing......

There is little difference between Bush and the rest of the criminals in Washington DC. Do you really expect Bush's evil twins in Congress to turn on him?

There will be more and more power taken by and used by government as time progresses. Bush will probably look like a Libertarian as compared to the oppression that is yet to come.

I think that myth has finally been put to rest during the early years of this century.

As I like to opine - though I can't remember who said it originally - if voting really mattered, it would be illegal.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('UIUCstudent01', 'O')r at least, with money.
There you go! :P

No way in heck Bush will ever be impeached. In fact, I'll be surprised if he ever leaves office.

Yeah, looks to be the way things are going. Stuff like this is starting to look like manufactured false hope. I read up a bit on Conyers and apparently he is a bit of a lame duck, maybe even on the same team.

Fucking hypocrits and traitors they all need to swing from a fucking LAMPPOLE! :x

Spec, I don't think they loved you and hugged you and sat you on their knee and read to you when you was just a little speck. We should all take pity, chip in and buy you this book so you can feel like you can be friends with people and they don't all hate you and want to hurt you.

Aight, I suspect little specky never got enough of that good libtard lovin'. It's only 8 bucks, I wouldn't normally do this but I'll chip in to help the little fella out. Just look at the testimonials...

Ah ha! So that's where Kunstler got the idea! Check his March 13 post on his blog:

Not that I think he's wrong, though. Seems like a good summation of the sorry state of American politics.
