KFC closures.

Unread postby Cyrus » Mon 13 Feb 2006, 21:45:18

Anyone know why so many of the KFC stores are closing? Every KFC store around here has been closed, but, I can't find any information on why. Bird flu, animal rights?

Any information?

I don't know either, but I've been noticing the same thing. Two KFC's near me have closed down in the past several months. I just kind of assumed they lost out in competition to Popeye's?

Just got done looking at that myself.

Thought I'd check out

after hearing his excellent interview at financial sense.

Been pawing through Engdahl's site this evening, and he does have
some good stuff there.

It's because KFC is fatty and gross. They are probably going bankrupt.

KFC is not doing well anymore because they have not upgraded their menu like McDonalds have, with new Mcafe, Salads Plus menu and other healthy alternatives to their regular menu. KFC is still serving the same old stuff. I like chicken, but I do not like KFC much. I have ordered chicken from them and nearly every time if I have gotten breast, the heart will drop and dangle from the 1/2 rib cage after I have bitten through the layer of batter and skin. I have to constantly use napkins to remove oil from my hands because the chicken is so greasy. I think also serving chicken is expensive, it's not as cheap as serving thin slices of ground beef on a bun.

And here, I thought h5n1 was just another cover story to ease us into acceptance of full-scale global bio-warfare. This is much worse.

How much do you want to bet that the "new" chickens will *require* injections to live. This ties in rather nicely with the animal ID programs.

For some odd reason, no matter how bad I think something looks on the surface, there's always something even less pleasant underneath.

KFC is also quite expensive compaired to somewhere like mc donalds. I've noticed the same issue with dairy queen. A meal and a blizzard costs $12. OR go to mc donalds and get 2 meals for $12. Or go to a real restaurant and get real food for $12 or my new found personal favorite. Go home and get a good meal for $2.

I remember one day a couple of years ago I came out of my optometrist's office feeling very, very depressed. During the visit he told me that my astigmatism grew worse again and that I required a stronger prescription. For some people this may seem pretty petty but since I depend on good corrected eyesight for my job it was devastating. I was so extremely hopeless and miserable that I went to KFC and I bought $30 worth of fried chicken, potato wedges and brownies. The purchase was a quick fix and I ate chicken for 3 days straight. Thank you KFC!!!

Yum Brands management presentations

KFC is part of Yum Brands, which also consists of Taco Bell, A and W, Long John Silver and Pizza Hut.

The company is doing well, on the whole, and supposedly has contingency plans in place for dealing with supply chain issues if the flu hits.

But their stated goal is to achieve 4% "same store sales growth" every year. In order to accomplish this, they need to shut down stores that are no longer growing, and build new stores out in the suburbs in growing areas to capture population growth patterns. When those stop growing, they will shut them down too.

If they keep open established stores that are not growing, they will not meet their targets, and their stock will be relatively unattractive compared to the Googles of the world and the management will get fired.

So you can see that if the suburbs stop growing, KFC will stop growing.

Also, you can see that the end result will be a lot of empty former KFC stores that will have to be torn down and/or turned into vacant lots.
