Hi all, I got some good tips for you to save money.
I noticed people on this forum were talking about eating fish and how good it is for you, namely Salmon. Well I know a fish that is cheaper salmon and tastes pretty good to boot as well. I eat the savings brand Mackrel from the 425grams cans. 1 can costs $1.26 and aloaf of bread from the savings store also cost just $1.19. With a can of mackrel I can make 4 sandwiches which are also very healthy and high in protein. If your on a diet, or just want a nice hot nurishing drink, you can get savings brand of soup for 93cents for a 4 pack, flavours are beef, ham & pea, cream of chicken. The ham pea & cream of chicken are my favourites. I also know of special less than $1 meal that almost everyone was flabbergassed when I tell them how much it cost, because it's such a hot, tasty & nurishing meal. What you do is get savings brand crumbed fish (6 portions) $2, frozen bag of mixed vegitables $1.50, some potatoes fresh or instant mash $1. Now put one fish portion on each plate, put mixed vegetables on the plate, then potatoes on the plate, put in microwave until hot and there you have it, feeds 6 people for under $5. I would also like to recommend Rolled Oats, now these are great for breakfast or a snack any time during the day your feeling peckish. Probably the quickest and the cheapest is instant or quick rolled oats, you just pour some oats into a cup and add hot water and there you have a quick simple meal, and a 1kg of rolled oats costs less than $1 for the savings brand, and will last ages. Bags of pasta are quite cheap, cheapest was 59 cents for 500grams, boil pasta for 10 mintues, drain and add tomato sauce, easily feed afew people. Noodles are also cheap, expecially the savings brand and you can choose from many flavours like chicken, beef and even more exotic flavours, which will allow to not get so quickly board of them. Cans of baked beans are 35cents each and rice is $3 for 3kgs. Cook some rice, then add whole can of baked beans, the excess sauce will soak into the rice making it taste wonderful. If you follow my tips, I'm sure you'll save acouple of thousand dollars a year on your grocey bill, and it'll save you alot of time also.
