Roadkill

Unread postby aldente » Tue 04 Oct 2005, 02:43:35

Most commonly one sees roadkill along the street as a result of "someone elses deed", yet it is nothing but a random process to who nobody wants to be accountable for.

I drove out of Los Angeles a couple days ago and while on the "road stream" of the freeway system I nearly hit a dove that stranded on the busy 101 struggling with perception, cars were driving on high speed (no traffic jam at that particular moment), wheels left, wheels right, cars above, the dove was obviously confused, probaly hit in the first place unable to fly at that moment, her wings hit right and left on the gound, all unreal, I myself just steered around the bird and felt really bad about her destiny..

Did you really need to make a topic of this and as usual post a image. It's hardly peakoil related. Lets stick to facts and news instead of fairy dreaming. Yes I've seen lots of dead animals on the road, and I would have rather to see dead doves dead than the larger forna/animals dead.

Print the image and put it up on any of the walls that surround you (don't tell me that you are not surrounded by walls...)

Sorry ment fauna. Albente I don't want to turn this into a conversation to take up the boards time, but why would I want to put that picture over the walls in my house, I would look like a catholic nut (religious painting I presume), or is it for the reason to watch out for pigeon droppings as the bird looks likes it's comming to drop one on the girl.

I dont have any walls.
I do have alot of element isolation and protection barriers, but certainly no walls.

Here, it is against the law to run over an animal and then pick it up for dinner, however if you see another motorist kill an animal, you can stop and pick it up for dinner

I keep em peeled.

why is that? bigger is better? what about an eagle, how would that make you feel to see it laying dead on the side of the road, run over by some unthinking bimbo yakking endlessly about nothing on her cellphone?

I hate seeing animals of any kind on the side of the road. It is wasteful.

I mostly walk, sometimes I ride my bike. besides that is not the point, it is the lack of compassion that goes along with it that bothers me. I am not high and mighty and I know I have killed my share of things, but I try not to do it thoughtlessly and without compassion

In some places, people are hit by vehicles and left there as roadkill.

Yes Dukat, religious symbolism is clearly involved in the picture and the same is true for Jagermeister. The dove in my text was just a symbol for systems other than our egosystem, as Pierre Chomat calls it in his book "Oil Addiction". I highly recommend this book, eventhough he is clearly aware of PeakOil he does not even talk about it (at least not during the first two thirds which I have read so far). It is simply advanced stuff just like the beginning of this thread.

Do you honestly believe I need to start another thread discussing PeakOil? The whole board is plastered. The walls around you symbolize your mental walls as well. There is a lot of harsh interaction on this forum I've noticed. I suggest that you drink some Jagermeister, Dukat simply to chill out.

I am the least religious person here, yet religious sybols can be fascinating. And no, I am not trying to get into a religious discussion here.

Do you pick up the motorist or the animal?

They will cross your way in the one or other form from time to time no matter what. What I wanted to say is that I did not select the pictures for that reason. The whole analogy with the dove is rather an equivalent about the non-accountability that everyone generally takes when it comes to issues that are tempting in the blaming the others "out there".

Again, if you want a good read get Pierre Chomats book, a retired French oil man that developed his own terminology for energy units which he calls Ergamines. You find analogies in his book that you might have heard about in the past, for instance that it takes the same amount of energy to fly an airplane full of American tourist to the pyramids in Egypt and back as it took to build them.
Hard to believe that nearly 10,000 Kalories are contained in a single drop of oil ( roughly 1 gram). The freeways are sybols of how reckless the process of consumption is taking place, reckless in regards to other participants of the ever shrinking ecosystem as it more and more is being replaced by the egosystems of the oil addicts (all Chomats teminology).
