Hmmmm I read about PO.
I thought ... unchecked consumerism and the inefficiencies thereof is the problem
People stuck in a viscious cycle ...one thing leads to the next.
This is all manmade.
How can I carry on as usual knowing what I know now?
I would feel like such a hypocrit to believe in PO and global warming yet not make changes now and perpetually until the worst is either realized or never happens.
For instance, buy a honda/toyota something efficient rather then a sporty race car or monster truck.
Buy a Bike to get you around campus.
Wear t-shirts that say "got oil?" with a

Be the founder and president of your colleges PO awareness group!!!
hmmm quitting your job......
I say dont quit if your job is profitable - look for better work while you have that job if it isnt.
for instance - My cousin has a "decent" job and as far as he is concerned its the best he can get at $16 an hour.
Yet at the end of the week he has done little more the spun his wheels.
No expendable income, no savings and thats at $2.50 a gallon -current food costs - not $3 or $4 etc etc and the effects on diesel which effects EVERYTHING that is shipped etc etc food, walmarts - you follow me?
In a few months his "good job" may no longer be feasible.
So in that case yes I would quit and seek a more sustainable lifestyle.
The bottom line here is what can one do with no expendable income?
How much preparing can you do with no extra dollars?
Sacrifice now - save and find something sustainable soon!!!
For those people who barely make ends meet - lets hope this distillate shortage is short lived.
Take away their "disposable" income, tell them about peak oil and what?
Expect them to be able to do something about it besides cry?? I think not.
