Now frankly, I don't know if it will end up coming to that or not..but I don't think it would happen this year or the next..not in this part of the world, although I can't speak for other areas of the globe.

Probably not. Certainly not if I had to kill them. Usually there's some rats and things around if there are dead people, so I don't think I'd have to eat dead people...Really, the possiblity is extremely remote.

I'd be much more likely to eat someone if they attacked me. But my first guess, having never been in such a situation, would be that I wouldn't eat another. But who knows. What Z said does appear to ring true.

I'd jump off a cliff first, but I won't have too because it isn't going to happen.

We are running out of oil slowly, not out of everything all at once. It is going to be impossible to operate a society based on eponential growth without cheap oil but that doesn't mean its impossible to do anything at all.

People will still get up in the morning, brush their teeth, put on their trousers one leg at a time and go to work.

There will be many changes, some of them unpleasant, but if we are clever and wise and even moderately lucky there won't be mass starvation.

IMHO on this website we should be generating policy to help with the transition like adults, not telling each other scary stories around the campfire like children.

so it may be 'campfire stories', but it is only half seriously, with the other half being a tongue planted firmly in cheek.

As far as what is healthy, I do believe that when you confront your fears and demons, they are an awful lot smaller and lose some of their power, which is really why I started the thread, you know?

not to say I don't think it COULD come to that..but I don't think that it will be tomorrow or the day after, and I do believe that we at least to some degree hold the keys to our futures in our own hands.
